The seventies is my most favorite era! If I were able to, I would have a whole Julie house and wardrobe! The colors of her clothes are right-on for the time! All the peasant tops with embroidery was very popular. Lots of patchy jeans, but I don't know about those two tone ones!🙁 The flowered jumpsuit is perfect with the ring zipper on turtleneck! I don't know why they have not given her any boots with some of her outfits-they were very popular! The dress with the sheer sleeves is right, and the long lengthy dresses were called Granny dresses! Headbands could be worn either way. The appearance of the doll "Julie" is spot on! I may be just a dork, but I adore Julie! I don't get tired of seeing her collection like some collectors do! The 70's was so creative, from the fashions to the music! 🌼🌸

As a 1974 high school graduate, I’d say Julie’s collection is pretty accurate. But we were not too much into pink, more lime green with yellow and orange. My bedroom had yellow shag carpet, a white canopy bed with “flower power” bedspread and canopy. Peace symbols were on everything! My favorite shoes were light brown moccasins. I wish I had more of Julie’s collection, I just got her a couple of years ago and hope to add more! Great video!

It was fun to see your whole Julie collection! I was a kid in the 70's so all the fashions are very nostalgic for me. The muted tones and orange, pink, yellow combo's were popular. As a little girl, I wore "granny or maxi dresses" and lots of peasant tops with jeans. My parents wore tie-dyed shirts, headbands and bell bottom pants. It was a fun era and the music was the best. My parents blasted it! I guess that makes me a "flower child"?? LOL Note to self, "must add Julie to my collection soon!"

Great collection! My teen years were in the 70's. I remember Earth shoes, tie dye, hot pants, frye boots, white clogs with the tiny holes, baby blue corduroy levis pants and anything embroidered made in India from the local head shops. I had saved a maxi dress and a maxi "quilt pattern" skirt from then and just sold them on ebay two years ago.

I love how much you love your Gabriela! She really is particularly pretty. I love Julie’s clothing collection, and I’m with you on the versatility of the basketball shoes. I have her most recent basketball uniform (white shirt and blue shorts) and my modern girls are constantly wearing the shoes. I would like to eventually get the other two basketball uniforms and I won’t pretend the sneakers don’t play a significant role in that desire, lol.

Yes! Every time I look at Julie's collection, it makes me want to see the sales numbers from AG. Julie HAS to be one of their better selling dolls because man-oh-man they have given that girl a TON of outfits and accessories! I don't begrudge her this extensive collection, but I do wish some of the other more recent historical dolls could also have large collections like that.

I don’t have my own Julie but I do have Ivy. Julie was one of my daughter’s first dolls and we only got a couple of her items when she collected. I’ve since purchased many things from her collection either secondhand or the newer releases from store. I so want the floral jumpsuit and calico dress outfits. It would also be cool to get the tunic outfit too. If I was able to get the skateboarding “summer festival” outfit I might die. I have a room in my historical house for them. It is one of my favorite rooms in the house. I have it all furnished. I just need to decide what to use for the floor and walls.

I can’t tell you how many pairs of pajamas in that particular style I wore during the 70s some of them with prints that look like sofa cushions some of them in solid colors that must’ve been when my mom was not taking her medicine. There are tons of Christmas and if it were possible for Mom, she would make sure that Lisa and I could have the same pajamas, so there was stood in the picture around the tree on Christmas Eve my sister and I and matching pajamas my brothers in matching ski pajamas that’s what we called them at the time and of course no Christmas picture would be complete without spit curls. Most of you are not old enough to know what a spit curl is, but anyone over the age of 55-60, remembers their mother on her finger wrapping your hair in the curl and then putting a bobby pin in it and that was how you went to sleep the night before your school pictures or when you were in some type of school activity, and certainly for the annual pajama Christmas picture. Those of us have grown up to be mothers know that mother spit cleans anything. And your child will wiggle like you were putting some type of slime on their face. When all you were doing, was trying to get their face cleaned for whatever picture came next .

I LOVED this video! Julie is the doll I primarily collect for, and I've been trying to slowly purchase some of her retired clothing that I missed out on during my collecting hiatus. You're welcome - it's a moderate amount of work but a LOT of fun doing these collection close-ups. And we did get that floral jumpsuit affordably and felt like we hit the jackpot. The tunic outfit, though...poor Grace had to pay the going rate to get me that one.

I spent my childhood in the 70’s. I have 6 of Julie’s outfits and several accessories. My “too expensive” Julie wish list item is her Disco dress and accessories. My 53 is perfectly groovy in the floral jumpsuit! My 47 is into the calico outfit. I love the diversity of your dolls in Julie’s clothes! Her lunch has cheese, tomato, lettuce, and mayonnaise on it (Wiki). That cupcake is totally Hostess!

That floral outfit IS perfectly groovy :-) And I love the diversity of our dolls in her clothes, too. Just as I put our historical girls in modern clothes all the time, I also don't hesitate to do the opposite and all the girls seem to like raiding Julie's closet ;-)

I know nothing about what time in history Julie is supposed to be in, but I saw a lot of late 60's and early 70's in style and colors. I'm a little surprised that along with all the pink/yellow/orange that they didn't do any of the blue/green/purple combos that were popular at the same time. Lime or neon green was very popular. I graduated from high school in 1969, and I wore peasant tops, bell bottoms, hot pants, empire waisted tops & dresses, jumpsuits, and a lot of hot pink, neon orange, and bright yellow while i was still in school. This was a fun video and jogged a lot of memories.

Julie was around 10 in 1974 so your guess was spot on. And All I can say is AG shies WAY away from green, which is sad. They did just give her two new outfits that we have (so now this video is outdated lol). You should check them out on AG's website - one is an updated roller skating outfit that's perfect for Pride and the other is a school outfit with a granny square sweater vest.

Julie is my favorite historical doll because I grew up in the seventies! I have so many great memories of that time, and I still love the music and clothes of that era. For this reason I have more of her collection than any other. I ended up getting the floral jumpsuit on another doll I bought for 25 dollars! I didn't even know it was part of Julies collection at the time! My plan is to do an entire doll house, all 70's style, with Julie's furniture, wardrobe, Ivy, and more groovy friends.😊 Loved your video!

I really enjoy your collection overviews; it's such a great way to see items in new ways and get some better ideas of how things actually look on a doll. I have really mixed feelings about Julie's collection, but I think that's largely because I don't really like a lot of 70s fashion as a whole. I ADORE the calico outfit and aim to own it someday, as well as the floral jumpsuit. I also own Julie's casual outfit, which I quite like. I don't actually own Julie, though; I own Ivy, and pretend that Julie's collection belongs to her instead, simply because I don't want to own multiple dolls from the same era and I ultimately preferred Ivy. I'm glad you're enjoying these (Grace Thomas is next). This Julie is my older daughter's and she doesn't generally live in the doll room, but I was happy to grab her from my kiddo's room to use for this video. I'm not in love with her (nor with my Ivy if I'm perfectly honest) but I like them both a lot. I think Julie's collection is definitely hit or miss for me but we now have most of the outfits I like from her collection.

I love love love Julie and her collection. I WAS Julie in the seventies, except my eyes are blue. Did the braid and all. Her outfits are so great and most of them super authentic. One of my favourites is the floral jumpsuit one. Had one so similar as well as one like her original meet. I really envy your peasant blouse outfit. Her summer dress (white), always makes me think of Jenny from Forrest Gump. She would have worn it barefoot, anyways. 😉 Not too dissimilar from my hippie grad dress. Lol. I have a few items still on my wishlist but somehow have several duplicates that I need ro sell first. Even the less impressive outfits were VERY accurate. My favourite pj set is the very newest one with the robe. So authentic. I do have her bed #1 and her hibachi grill set. So fun. Same hoop as mine but the basketball outfit is different. All a lot of fun. Somehow i missed her maxi dress, - the yellow and orange, pink one. It is now on my wish list. It is super cute. Still on my list is her gogo dress/boots. So cool and soooo expensive.

Julie's Collection is so pretty! Honestly, I don't have an opinion on the beforever change- I either like an outfit or I don't just like the original historical line. I really do wish I got to collect more of the historical items/earlier items before they got super pricey but I was really young when they came out. Like I just got the Singing Star outfit the other day for a really good price, there was no chance of me getting it when it came out because I was four years old

Most of my dolls are historical. We have a lot of Julie stuff as my granddaughter loves Julie. I use the clothing on other dolls. We have the original bedroom set. Now I have to put that Outfit on our Gabriella. That color looks great on her. I don't know much about fashion I just know what i like, Shoes are my favorite part of the New Years eve outfit. I want her skateboard outfit but it is very hard to find.

I realized from your video we have almost the whole collection of Julie outfits beforever and pre beforever. That is scary when I think of the amount of stuff we have. LOL Not complaining. I too love the blue hat however, my reason for loving it is because it was our families first trip to Disney World. We went to year after it opened, and mom and dad got all five of the kids and themselves a set of years with our names on them of course at that time it was only $3.50 not the 40 and $50 a day. They charge for them now And we each got a hat because although we spent a great deal of time in our pool in our backyard, we were in Illinois in the sun ratio to Florida is completely different and we would’ve gotten burned to a crisp and my hat for Disney World was a blue brim hat with my name on it I know it’s in a box somewhere but when you picked it up, it is a little different. That’s what it reminded me. Michael’s craft store is currently putting out their Halloween and part of their Halloween is the 70s. They generally have like four or five different vignettes that you can choose your Halloween decor by well. I think the stuff is adorable maybe a little overpriced but very very cute and Julie would look fabulous in a setting from there. Not a pitch for Michael’s just a pitch where people may find some things from the 70s that they can add to their collections for creating more dioramas.

@@agtakesover 👋 Kristie, thanx 4 the Congrat's, yeah I got also yesterday -the AG X-Box Set.But no pamphlet 😲.Can't figure out why the chair takes batteries turns on has aux cord it plugs into back of the chair,but where does other end of aux cord plug into 😱.It's freaking me out totally i swear.i would think other end of aux cord goes into a 📱 phone idk HELP‼️🤔.Anyway it came w/ 2 CD's each having a case.1/ dance other pic's of AG Girlies.1 controler think it woulda had 2 controlers 😲 and a head set plus the X-Box has a projector to show the cd's.Must be dark to show the 💿 CD's 🤣🤣.I understand it's 4 the doll's 🤣 however if it turns on / takes batteries in bothe chair & X-Box it must do something 😀. I remember watching someone's video where they made the same point. Might've been about the Billy bookcases or something completely different, but the point was everyone fit except the dolls in platform shoes.

The most important telephone that teenagers wanted in the 70s was the pink princess phone now that was when Ma Bell was in charge of everything. before the Supreme Court ruled or the FTC, whoever it was ruled that it was a monopoly which it was and they had to be broken up into the six phone companies that we have today as conglomerates that still make money handover fist. That’s too much information, but had they come up with a pink, princess phone or something that was similar to it, whatever outfit or package that went with it would fly out the door. And you’re right the embroidery on that shirt tells you everything you need to know about the quality of the company. Like anything else when they were getting ready to go if they hadn’t already gone over to Mattel. They were certainly doing everything they could to make. The books look great, and you do it by shaving a penny here, and a penny there.

I grew up in the 80’s , but most everyone I’ve asked who grew up in the mid to late 70’s say’s Julie’s collection is pretty accurate, the hot-pants with Nehru’ish style jacket, buffalo Sandals , two tone jeans etc. I wish she had some tie-dye pieces , I have most of her clothing from both collections.. ..I’ve been searching for the Etsy seller who make’s that New-years outfit, I’ll keep checking back hopefully someone will shout it out in the comments.

whoa, I've literally never seen the zigzag pjs (they fell right in the short timeframe where I wasn't actively collecting at all). My opinion of them reflects yours, though the pompoms on the pants are kinda fun. I do like the mixed-print maxi dress too - I don't collect for Julie and I have it, though mine came with the wrong shoes (the peasant top clogs) - mostly I wanted the bracelet, but I do like the dress too, it looks great on dark skin dolls. Hah, I also have that birthday outfit, and I primarily bought it for the hat.

@@agtakesover At the moment, I fill the crown with tissue paper (at least a little), and the ones that are more delicate I store under AG beds in the doll house, and the rest of sturdier ones like Tenney's and Julie's, I stack and keep in a small plastic tote. I also have a collection of human hats ;) and those I display on my bedroom wall, so I've considered once I get all the doll houses up (got the modern, not the historicals) and the room is laid out properly, that I'll hang theirs on the wall similarly.

I’ve never bought anything of Julie’s new from AG (other than Ivy, her accessories, and New Year dress). I have a few things secondhand. My favorite is her original birthday dress - it looks good on everyone! I also love her original Christmas dress, calico dress, and dog-walking tunic. I love the 1970s, but I’m a little underwhelmed by the Julie doll. I wish she looked more like the original illustrations that showed her with dark honey blonde hair. Lea looks amazing in this collection - but what doesn’t she look good in? I’ve been tempted to get the Julie doll time and time again, but so far I’ve been content just buying what I like for other dolls.

Yeah, it was kind of crazy to me that out of everything I showed in this video only the more recent birthday dress was purchased from AG lol. And I don't know that we would have gotten Julie for ourselves either. We have a wigless Julie that we got in a lot and decided to keep (Margot) and we got a Julie for my adult kiddo because she said that's the one she *would have gotten* if I'd gotten her a doll as a child. I do like her hair a lot - feel like it's unique and I remember my mom telling me she used to actually iron her very long hair during that time so it seems era-appropriate.

@@agtakesover it’s definitely era appropriate. My mom’s hair was also long and straight in the late 60s/early 70s. I just wish it wasn’t so platinum.

Oddly enough, I really LOVE her bright yellow patent leather clogs. Her shoe collection is mostly sandals, which I like, but I also do love those clogs lol.

My girls are 8 and they are amazed by the rotary phone .My Julie lunch box is in pretty good condition but my molly lunch box which is also metal is badly dented. The tunic outfit is great and love the floral jumpsuit the turtleneck has gotten dingy. I need a new hat for the pinball outfit but don't want to pay 20.dollars for it so just keeping a eye out. The only outfits i am missing are the two maxi dresses, the skateboard outfit and the early basketball outfit. Her collection is huge but I have her bedroom set and rabbit also. I don't know why but I love the colors, they make me smile. I would love to see a video on repairing hats. Have a couple of straw hats that need some TLC

I know it's crazy, but I film a lot of my videos way in advance and schedule most of them so they post automatically. So I can tell you now that the straw hat repair video will air on June 14th (unless I change it) lol. I'm with you about that tunic outfit. It's quite possibly my favorite Julie outfit of her entire huge collection!

@@agtakesover That's funny. If you have ever watched I dream of Jonny he uses his Julie as Jan Brady! I think the hair is a better match. Jan was more platinum and very long while Marsha, Marsha, Marsha was a more golden blonde. LOL

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least. I wore my hair like Julie’s and several people who have looked through the scrapbook of my 70s. I asked them what they think most of them are about 15 years younger than I am and they all go Marsha Marsha Marsha, so yes, in my mind she definitely was supposed to be Marsha Brady. Of course they would never admit that because they be right in all sorts of other stuff involved in it but she’s a pretty good facsimile for Marsha also Claudia clothes some of them you could put on Marsha I mean Julie And they would be appropriate just my two cents. I know how my mother dressed me I couldn’t wait to get a high school when it was no dress code, and I could wear whatever the heck I wanted, and I did practically paralyzing my father at the breakfast table the very first morning and went off the high school in blue jeans, a T-shirt and a flannel shirt wrapped around my waist, and my father told me to go put a dress on and I said I’ve been waiting nine years for this day no I will not put a dress on. And I walked out the door to catch the bus.

Watch for AG sales and buy yourself some basketball uniforms. Get five. Next year get five of another color. 😂you then have two teams. Set your self up a hen with basketball hoops and two teams of players. You can even do some cheerleaders. Great picture opportunities!
