Wouldn't be an adventure without a few mishaps!! Did the trip this summer '20. Went to come off the ferry at the Mackenzie and the truck's starter motor died. They had to tow me off and I spent 2 days stuck on that hill waiting for a tow to Inuvik. Nicest people I met while there. Then on the way back the road was so rough I snapped a plastic connection on a heater hose. Some fellas helped me jury-rig it back on and I ran river water in the rad all the way back to Dawson. A great trip though and as your pictures show just spectacular scenery. It's an odd feeling though driving up there and realizing that there is no human habitation on either side of you, east or west, for thousands of kilometres. Safe travels and happy memories.

What a great story! I’m sure you will remember your trip forever. On another trip we also had a problem with the starter motor. That’s when I said we would never drive an automatic to remote places so we now drive a standard. It’s a lot easier to get it started if the starter motor dies.

I'm glad that the "oops" wasn't a severe one!

It could have been but we were very lucky. Also the fact that the front bumper is solid steel saved us as well as our journey

What an adventure! I enjoyed watching your video and was pleasantly surprised when I saw that we were also part of your video. We were camping next to you along the Arctic Ocean in Tuk. We had the Toyota Sienna and tent in the camping spot next to yours. Our trip took us from Montreal to Tuk and back. It was a fantastic trip and we promised ourselves to do it again one day.

I appreciate your guts of driving a diesel vehicle in a non diesel territory. Coming to the fix for the starter motor, I would say that is the advantage of driving a vehicle without a billion sensors and electronics..

All the trucks are diesel in Canada, so it’s not a problem at all. In fact the only place I ever encpuntered a diesel shortage was in Uzbekhistan. Yeah the starter turned out to be Ok

@@OverlandSite Jeep did really well. Only one flat tire and that happened in Dawson City. 5 rock chips in windshield. Keep gong.

We just go back from this trip 06 November 22. Was quite a trip and the roads where in even worst condition as well as completely mud ridden. Although luckily we didn’t have any off road fall offs. We saw many vehicles who did and the drop offs where they did we where amazed people made it out alive. Trucks flipped, lots of hard ice tea cans from people abusing alcohol. We did come out unscathed on this portion of our trip. Thankful we beat t he bad weather and any major mishaps. A must do trip for anyone thinking about it. We are also working on our videos now to post up online. Have safe travels.

It must have been a great adventure! It’s hard enough during summer, let alone in November. Well done! I agree some of the drops were extreme on both side of the road
