Our euro nymphing leader setup

In this video I talk about the leader that me and Ben fish most often, and cover some tips on building a leader, and why I choose this particular leader over others for my style of fishing. I have really liked throwing a straight 6 pound maxima leader. I hate the dang knot running in and out of my guides when I tied down to 4 pounds. Maybe I need to give it another whirl with a short 4 pound section and coat my blood knot with resin.

Hey man, Ive been loving your channel. It seems like you fish with a 2wt rod a lot. Would you recommend a 2wt or a 3wt rod for euro nymphing that can also handle dry flies, dry droppers, and the occasional popper for small panfish? all the trout around me are around 8-12" and my creeks are usually as big as what you seem to be fishing regularly. Why do you prefer maxima over the straight 4x micro leaders ?

Straight 4x is a little to thin for me overall and it’s a pain to turn it over in the situation you do try to throw a dry dropper
