Rewatching Pitou's scene I just realized a important element that I have always overlooked, that is her guilt. Previously the King had ordered her personally to use her en to monitor and protect Komugi, but then later on, when Netero's attack began she completely disregard this order and focus only on the enemy ahead. As a result of this action Komugi en up being badly hurt. When Pitou rushes up to the King help she was surprised by a disturbed aura and a precarious mental state, but here is the thing: she is the one responsible for all that. The narrator doesn't mention it but she certainly must have felt deeply guilty. But her surprises didn't stop there, seeing the King's devastating state and understanding her role in all of this she must have resigned herself to the due punishment that would follow, but what came instead was a a gentle expression and a pleading for help. That certainly wasn't what she (or anyone else) expected and that definitely wasn't the Meruem she knew. Not only the King doesn't blame her he also humbly lowers himself to ask for her assistance. A really powerful scene.

I know Ange was a bit disapoointed with Youpi's initial design, but the shapeshifting makes it so worth it IMO. Going from his "standard" form which is just very simple, to the monstrosities like we see in this episode just provides a stark contrast. It's like his base form is a blank canvas for Togashi to warp into body horror. One detail the sub screws up that the dub fixed, is that after Killua helps out Ikalgo, in the sub Ikalgo says "I owe you" whereas in the manga he says "You owe me." Basically, in the original Ikalgo is calling out Killua for getting distracted from his mission with Gon and not trusting that Ikalgo could handle things, as well as increasing risk that somebody would be suspicious of his disguise.

On the point about why shoot covered his eye, "he had no clear reason to do so" means there was no tangible direct benefit to doing it. But he did it because hes realised that the added stress & restrictions of these hindrances (the leg and covered eye) are forcing him to exceed his potential. like an animal backed into a corner, or the unmatched work productivity in the final hour before a deadline. from a literal perspective covering his eye is bad, but the indirect benefits of forcing yourself into a state of extreme focus are a net positive. like how an extremophile species adapts and becomes hardened to its environment

chimera ant arc is the pinnacle of anime. to appreciate it fully, you need all the episodes before it in entirety. you need to see Gon as the happy go lucky kid to appreciate that look at the end of the episode. you need to have seen the queen and the ruthlessness of the ants to appreciate Meruem's care of Komugi. you need the Knuckle, Shoot, Morel, Ikalgo, Palm, Kite etc buildup to enjoy these awesome character moments ❤️ it's one of those anime that the payoff is so good it's all because of that character buildup, world building, and power scaling

I guess you guys missed king saying "I'm counting on you", That's a huge moment for not only pitou but also for the character development of Meruem, He is asking pitou's help and he trusts pitou, He's not commanding her and that's why pitou was crying

This is why I don't fully hate Pitou, as annoying as it was killing Kite (well, I'm not really attached to Kite, I would've been more mad if it killed Wing-san or Leorio) Because Pitou also grew from being a killing machine who finds pleasure in fighting and killing, to someone who learned to care for someone because for the first time in its life someone needed it and that someone is someone it's born to protect and serve

I also believe she had cried because of the "negative energy" she felt, and maybe, just maybe, she felt his emotions and knew how the king really felt about Komugi. We tend to believe that he was just pissed, but for me he was sad or melancholic, to be honest. All of this and the king saying "I'm counting you" contributed for Pitou's crying.

I really loved how Carlie teared up and had the empathetic foresight to see the dilemma: Gon is our beloved main character, we want to see him get revenge on Pitou, but now she is healing Komugi 😭 we want Komugi to live. only Togashi-sensei makes us feel this conflicted about our main character

I have a theory that I formulated, which I've never seen anyone discuss before and it contains no spoilers, but I think each royal guard represents one of the aspects that form the human mind: reason, emotion and instinct. Pitou represents reason and logic; that's why their ability involves medicine, which is the use of reason to fix the most complex device in existence, the body. Pouf represents feelings, which is why he is so emotional and artistic, expressing and sharing emotions through music. Finally, Youpi represents instincts, as shown by his animalistic nature and brute strength, similar to how wild beasts, considered irrational, primarily rely on their instincts when faced with a threat.

I think what happened with the king walking between netero and zeno was when you're in a fight or stand off there's tension and that tension grows the closer you are and the king suddenly started walking their way getting closer and closer and closer building tension and then just walked past the both of them then walks with his back toward them without even showing the slightest worry meaning the king doesn't fear them whatsoever and doesn't even consider them a threat to him and could've killed them as easy as that

Also the point of: if he walked between them *without them noticing* him, means he could have gone for a surprise attack and killed both them right there if he wanted to. They lowered their guard too much, with an incredible monster right to their side

17:18 is so great because Killua made it clear to Ikalgo that it would be lame if they thank each other constantly so Ikalgo made sure not to say thank you and instead, "I owe you one"; helping clear Killua's mind as well

That moment when Pitou cries is one of the best moments from the whole series. It's a scene that hit me so hard. One of those of scenes that you'll never forget upon just watching once. Pitou is someone who has always respected Meruem for who he is more than just the title he holds. And in this moment Pitou is able to feel Merume's genuine emotions, just how much he truly cares for Komugi. By asking Pitou to heal Komugi, he also shows the trust he has in her. And this is perhaps for the first time Meruem asks Pitou of something by requesting her and not giving a command. All these factors moves Pitou to tears. I love it because it beautifully depicts the humanity in these so called monsters. Both in Pitou and the King. Just amazing character work in my opinion, subtle yet so impactful. Not to mention the score in that moment is just spectacular 🙌

31:45 Well technically it is… their (Gon, Killula, Morel, Knuckle & Shoot) only mission is to _distract_ the Royal Guards and keep them from the King so Netero can get his 1v1 with no interference. So him sitting there waiting for Pitou to finish up is not only sticking to the plan but it’s him even exceeding with the plan. (Because it keeping her distracted for _that_ much longer than if it were just their fight… now it’s their fight + the time waiting while she heals Komugi.)

11:11 Just to be clear though, Pitou never “healed” kite. She has the “Doctor Blythe” thing that she can use for healing and she also has the other one (idk its name) that she essentially uses as a puppeteer to control corpses… which is what she used on Kite. I think she just stitched his body back together and then put it on ice (I’m assuming until she developed her Nen puppet power ability.)

You were wondering if Ikalgo's "I owe you one" line was some setup, but it's actually a payoff for stuff that happened previously. For those who wanna figure it out on their own, I will leave the explanation a couple lines beneath this so you can avoid seeing it if wanted. It refers back to the conversation between Ikalgo and Killua after they left the underground hospital. Back then Killua mentioned to Ikalgo that now that they are friends, he won't bother thanking him and doesn't expect Ikalgo to thank him if they help each other out because friends are supposed to help friends, and how it would be lame to just thank each other every time. This was Ikalgo both indirectly and explictly telling Killua that he considers Killua a friend now as well, which helped Killua to snap out of his self-doubts.

It's unfortunately a mistranslation. In Japanese, Ikalgo actually says the opposite: "You owe me one." It's long been a discussion subject among Japanese readers of this manga and various theories have been put forward over the years why Ikalgo says it that way when it's Killua killing the trash mobs for him, even though he was supposed to stick to his role.
