Our First BACK to BACK CRUISE on Odyssey of the Seas

Something we have always wanted to do is a back-to-back cruise... and now we have! We were on Odyssey of the Seas for a special event for the naming ceremony but knew that two days on this awesome ship would not be enough... so we booked the next five day sailing for a full week... and our first technical back-to-back!!
We could not get the same cabin for both sailings, but we only had to move about 10 cabins down on the same deck. And the cabin steward was nice enough to let us put our things in the new cabin before we started our getting off the ship and getting right back on adventure.
Everyone who was staying on was brought to a holding area until everyone else was off the ship, then we were escorted off to immigration, scanned our passports, waited for a few minutes in a holding area, and were back on board!
The best part about it is that we had the ship to ourselves for a few hours until the next group of guests boarded... it was very peaceful. So since we were relaxing, we decided that is what our day would be all about... Relaxation... Solarium here we come!

We’re booked on 4 b2bs from Dover on the Carnival Pride. We do have 2 cabin changes on the same deck, but have done this before and it’s not an issue. We’re booked on the Discovery Princess inaugural and b2b.

We eat a leisurely breakfast in the dining room on turn around day. The buffet is very busy and crowded because people need to vacate their stateroom early. Many take their carryon with them to breakfast, so you have to navigate around suitcases, strollers, etc. We sail B2B as much as possible. We enjoy cruising so much that 7 days isn’t long enough. Our next one is on the Mardi Gras soon. One week we do eastern Caribbean, and second week we do western Caribbean. I met a lady on the Grandeur of the Seas a few years ago who did B2B2B2B. They lived in PA and wanted to get away from snow. She said the Grandeur was their timeshare. 😁 If you book early enough, you are better able to get the same cabin for both legs. Even if you couldn’t get the same one, you can check periodically. Sometimes people cancel before final payment, and your cabin may open up for your second week. It’s such a nice feeling on the last night of the first leg when you don’t have to pack up to go home. On our B2Bs, the cabin stewards moved our stuff to the new cabin if we were going to a different one. Of course, we tipped them extra for the convenience of not having to pack up ourselves.

You really can’t see out at night as the lights inside create like a mirror on the glass. But it is a great place to relax still.

We did quiet a few B2B cruises, most of them on the same cabin, but when we had to change cabins, the crew took the things from one cabin to the other, they hung things on the same place we had it on the other cabin. Also, on Anthem we did not have to disembark, the whole process was done on-board and we had a special brunch for back to backers on American Icon. Although we did after that a b2b on Mariner, and we had ti disembark, and there wasn't a brunch for us, BUT we did eat breakfast....

For the first time, all our cruises this year are back to back. Fewer airplane trips across the country, just do two cruises at once. All our back to backs are in the same room so we don't have to pack and switch rooms.

That is nice that you were invited for the special event. I live right here in Florida, have been a travel agent for four years, sell RCCL cruises but I am never invited because I am not a top seller.

I think the invites can be random sometimes. I spoke to two ladies that were brand new agents and really hadn’t sold many cruises. Talk to your BDM about future opportunities.

We did a B2B on Disney Dream in 2012 (wow was it really that long ago already?), and there were only the 4 of us, one other couple, and the first mate's wife and son. Now THAT was a real empty ship for about 90 min!
