The European buildings and architecture are amazing and very beautiful. The cold and rainy weather gives the city an extra charm. By the way George, you will notice that Spanish is very close to Portuguese, and some words are spelled the same way. "Vamos", for example, is one of them. 😆 Great video!!

I have never visited Spain but I have friends who have, and they have highly recommended me to eat "paella", "churros con chocolate", "tapas", "jamón serrano" and by the way, I have tried a Spanish wine called "Sangre de toro" which, in my opinion, is excellent . Paella is a must-try indeed, and so is jamón. I don't remember what city it was at, but they even have a ham museum in Spain 😂😂 They're really dedicated to ham (which I appreciate).

When I was visiting Madrid, it was the best place for sandwiches, quick meals and they have this old-style vibe with pictures of the food... and the best mushrooms I've ever had in my life! I've only been to Madrid once. We went to a couple of really nice museums. I ate a lot of eggs and ham. Try the shishito and/or padron roasted peppers. Very popular snack there. I'm with your Mother on the red wine! Hopefully it was a good one. That's what I'd be drinking!

It looked like pork - the food looked good, but pretty standard. I really like the Spanish potato omelet, I had a Spanish friend cook one for us and it was very good! But I imagine that home-cooked is probably better than the restaurant stuff. When we went to Japan, what we did was to explore freely and, when we got hungry, we checked on Google what restaurants around us were good (3.5 or better) and we'd go there. That strategy worked, we only had really good meals in Japan and avoided tourist traps! I really like Spanish ham (jamón serrano/iberico, like what that guy was slicing in the market), I'd recommend that you try that if you get the chance. Madrid looks great, thanks for the great video! Your mom looks like she's having fun!

Didnt know you were here n Spain, enjoy your stay and for restaurants look first at Google Maps to dont fall for tourist traps. For example the first place on the video, if It has signs with photos of food its a place for "guiris" or foreigners, the fries were Frozen and the tortilla looked a bit dry; for comparison Its like if I went to Japan to eat at a maid café 😅. Dont be afraid and let people recommend you places.

(And if the best thing in a tapas place is the _salad,_ it’s probably _not_ the best place for tapas.) Although you can sometimes stumble onto a “hidden gem,” it’s pretty unlikely, especially in a tourist area, and eating at a subpar place is just a lost opportunity. George, you must be in contact with subscribers in Madrid-let _them_ recommend a tapas place or, really, any restaurant or, at least, check online.
