Really like how toyota has reinvisioned it's line up in a short time frame. Normally it would be one vehicle here one the next year but it is almost a entire fleet within 2 years Hopefully the rear window rolls down on this one and a flat cargo area

From the way this looks, the Land Cruiser will be more tame just like the new GX. Possibly the new 4Runner will actually be built more as a bronco/wrangler competitor with removing hardtop, etc.

This looks like a stripped down GX 550. Same window line. I have a feeling new 4runner will be more upscale than previous generation and Land Cruiser will be a stripped down GX like the Prado Land Cruisier they get overseas.

Land Cruiser gets no luxury trim levels, while next 4Runner expands on premium trim levels. Weird I know, but that's the plan. Land Cruiser is for serious off-roaders who commute and also be exclusive. 4Runner will be for traditional buyers, who commute and need some good capability.

Hey Jon, if you look at the bottom of the front end. If you notice that curved thing that’s right behind the front tires. That looks like the radius arms from the 80 series, which possibly hints at a solid axle front

Just like Toyota brought back a solid rear axle to Sequoia it now looks like they're bringing back a solid front axle to LC Prado. 4runner will presumably remain IFS

you didn't ask but my theory: they are first releasing vehicles similar to a 4runner but more expensive. the goal is to get buyers who would otherwise pay less for a 4runner and be happy, but can afford to pay more. so probably the land cruiser will have the v6 as the new GX, and the 4runner will have the 4 cylinder like the new tacoma. if anything I think the land cruiser could replace the sequoia.

I love the 80 series LC meets modern LX vibe with the new GX that this new LC is based on, but I don’t care for the bulging/bug eye look of the front and rear lights apparent on this new LC silhouette. I think Toyota has done that long enough. The integrated lenses look better in my opinion. I’ve owned multiple 4Runners of various generations. A modern interpretation of a 2nd gen meets 3rd gen 4Runner is what I’m waiting for.

Really curious about the powertrain for this new LC. Also, will this carry the Prado name? If this turns out looking similar to the GX 550, I wonder if they were concerned about the LC siphoning sales from the GX, similar to when the 470 and V8 4th Gen 4Runner came out.

Sheet metal will be identical to the new GX550. All the plastic bits will change (grill, bumpers, lights… etc). Priced 10-15k less than Lexus. I wish they focused more on the approach/departure angles with these upcoming vehicles. Rear locker is nice but not much point if you’re dragging your chin over rocks 😮

i think a good move for toyota would be to place the 4runner inline with the bronco and the wrangler. make it a hard off-roader with removable top and that sort of things. imo that's one way they could both survive. on the other hand, i won't get hyped till i see prices. at least design-wise it looks it will be boxy as the lexus gx is so that is good news. i think we all can agree the prado will be an awesome vehicle just be looking at this teaser. the key point now is pricing, and that will determine if this comes out really well or dissapoints the public.

In a way we’re technically getting the 300 series if you think about it. Both the new GX and 300 share the same platforms, engines, transmission, many of it’s off road components, etc. While the difference being this version being slightly smaller and has a completely different design. So yeah the 300 Land Cruiser is coming to the US (Sorta) And before you say well we have the Lexus LX which is based on the 300 series. That’s also true but this will much cheaper and has the Land Cruiser nameplate on it

It always competed with the LX series. So theoretically it should be priced under the LX 600 I think they put themselves in a bad spot with the GX being more desirable then the 600. As it was always the poor people went lx460. Rich went lx570 They made the GX too good and will siphon a lot of sales to the GX series. Putting the LC in a tough spot where to place it

Realistically I think the Land Cruiser keeps the 3.4TT and is very similar to the GX but slightly cheaper. I think the 4runner returns to be being Tacoma based and gets the turbo 4. I think it's a pipe dream for 4runner to be a direct competitor to the Wrangler and Bronco. Toyota sells way to many 4Runners to make it any sort of niche vehicle. Just my opinion

I think the 6th gen 4runner TRD Pro will be about 60K, the new LC (stripped down with cheaper materials inside) around 70K and the GX overtrail around 80K. Toyota has to keep them spaced out and not alienate the customers from Families to more offroader types. I think the LC is the fighter for the Wrangler and Bronco but with a fixed roof. If you max out the Wrangler and Bronco price you would be looking about 70K or so not including the 392 jeeps.

I guess it's our North America centric view, but it's not really hard to figure out how all these Toyota vehicles fit in. Everywhere else, there is the Hilux, Fortuner, Prado, LC300. That's all this is, just replace the Fortuner name with 4Runner and slot in the Sequoia (Taco, 4Runner, Prado, Sequoia) for NA. The new 4Runner will be based on the Taco, same engine, same trims, same transmission. No, it won't have a solid front axle, or even a front locker from the factory.

It's the Land Cruiser Prado (Lexus GX in the US) as we here in the South East Asia, Australia and South Africa region calls it. Must not be mistaken for the new Land Cruiser 300 Series that replaced the 200 Series. I own a new LC300. You Yanks don't get the LC300 just the Lexus LX600. The LX is a 300 Series with a tuxedo 😂

Historically LC was always with the LX570. Not the GX They put themselves in a pickle with the GX being more popular then the LX600. If they base it off the GX. They just pulled an odd trick. Having the LC two bars under Lexus ( lx600. Then GX 550. Then LC…. )

No one cares about your perspective. It works just fine. Land Cruiser name has been used in multiple product segments and the flagship I6/V8/300 versions are not the only bearers of that nameplate. Toyota decided to only offer the largest version as a Lexus model in USA, as that is how they've always intended it to be anyway. A heavy duty luxury model. If Lexus existed 50 years ago, all 60-300 Series large versions, wouldn't wear a Toyota badge ever. They'd only be a Lexus LX. Fullsize Land Cruiser can be stripped down to basics or loaded up further, but it's still considered a luxury vehicle. They are not required to offer that everywhere and decided American and European markets don't respect the Land Cruiser name enough, to sell it at a luxury vehicle's price tag. 300+ Land Cruiser will only be offered as a midrange product going forward, in the developing world to heavy duty-favoring affluent markets. You guys keep questioning their decision to sell the Prado instead, not realizing this is supposed to be a more practical replacement for the well regarded FJ Cruiser. You will never get a 300 or 400 Series ever, unless it is sold as a Lexus or BEV replacement for Sequoia.

Ah yes where does the 4Runner sit in all this? In the US in 2021, Toyota sold 144,696 4Runners, 121,023 in 2022 (down 16%) and 41,449 from Jan - May 2023, so a projected ~100,000 units in 2023? It seems like the market is shrinking for the 4Runner. Toyota needs to get the 6th Gen into the market to renew interest or is it to late except for us 4Runner enthusiasts? Has the 4Runner lost some of its market to the Highlander? We have heard about the 6th Gen 4Runner for about 4/5 years now and still nothing from Toyota and 2024 and maybe even 2025 will still be a 5th Gen. It's interesting that every single body on frame truck & SUV, and most of Toyota's complete line has been refreshed yet the 4Runner just lofts along. We might even see Toyota's compact truck, to compete against the Ford Maverick, hit the market before the 6th Gen 4Runner.

Much like the new and old Sequoia is just a third row SUV version of the tundra the 4runner will still do the same with the Tacoma. The 4runner will have a 4cyl not the turbo V6, I would expect the Land cruiser to be near the Sequoia in price where the 4runner won't. Toyota knows everyone's buying SUVs and the more they have the more they can sell probably thinking that they're both for different people. I would love to see Toyotas mini truck soon as well but there's been absolutely nothing since Jack Hollis made confirmation it would be based on the Corolla cross hybrid. 2022-> Tundra 2023-> Sequoia 2024-> Tacoma 2025-> 4Runner
