I love this family and all the fun things, but I can’t help imagining the pressure. Tiffany and Benji clearly love their kids and vlogging allows for lots of lavish gifts and experiences, but let’s look at the facts behind the scenes even with the best of intentions. If even one of their children makes a mistake and it gets exposed, their family can be cancelled which is immense pressure. The kids were born into jobs outside of their choice, evidenced by getting home from school to go straight into a planned film day (plus consider if the kids are paid but perhaps this family is the exception and maybe Utah labor laws require it or maybe not), having to walk down an aisle at a store seven times to get the right angles, and these are not home-filmed videos like imagined with a propped camera in the corner- we see the behind the scenes of them ignoring the camera crews that are in their face filming basic family interactions, a constant digital footprint they aren’t old enough to ethically consent to and constantly under public opinion, and then they are often put into situations on and off screen that they don’t have the emotional maturity to choose/respond to/handle and have someone else creating the public narrative of who they are. Throw in that it’s people like me who enjoy (and feel guilty for it bc of these reasons) watching, but who else is saving and watching these videos? Predators and collectors who can take a screenshot and create AI CSAM. It’s ignorance to think that that isn’t occurring on a daily basis to all of the Nelson kids, and “well I don’t like to think about it that way” doesn’t make it untrue. All the love in the world doesn’t make this objectively healthy. 🫶🏻
