@@starrfishhill Well to be honest mankind's time down here is about coming to an end & I been waiting since "1980" for music to come back to the way it once was? other than what the Bee Gees done. I truly believe the climax of musical expression was between "65" to "79" the 70's sold the most records than any other decade, they had beautiful background vocals, used real orchestra's, lyrics were deep & profound, now it's not real at least to me, something was lost & I don't know if it will ever come back?

Their vocals - and Barry's falsetto, in particular - are iconic...and were ever-present from the mid-70s to the mid-80s. Which isn't even taking into account the FIRST phase of their career in the 60s and early 70s. They'd been around and adapted to the times beautifully.

And they wrote all the songs and for so many other artists
@dortheyc52763 жыл бұрын
It's like they invented harmony. Live band, no auto tune, no computerized voice enhancement and one mic for all three of them. Back then (1979). singing was just pure, raw talent. By the date of this recording, the BeeGees had already been singing together professionally for 21 years when Barry was 12 years old and the twins were just 9. All of the Gibb brothers including little brother, Andy, could sing in that amazing falsetto voice. But Barry was the master. He was able to exorcise more control over it. The Gibbs were, in my opinion, the most multi-talented families in music history. They wrote their own songs as well as writing songs for many other musical greats.This song was included on a compilation album to benefit UNICEF. There were many artists who recorded songs on the album, but the BeeGees gave all the royalties from this song in any form. In, at that time, an unprecedented move, they also gave UNICEF the publishing rights to Too Much Heaven. To date, Too Much Heaven has raised over 11 million dollars for UNICEF. In 1967, they wrote a song called To Love Somebody which appeared on their third album titled BeeGees 1st, but their first internationally, as the first two albums were only released in Australia. BeeGees 1st was released in July '67. Otis Redding was set to record To Love Somebody on his next album. Sadly, Otis was killed in a plane crash, Dec 10,1967. I thought for the longest time that they didn't record it themselves until after the death of Otis Redding. Their brother Andy Gibb had a very successful solo career as well until his death on March 10,1988. Just 5 days after turning 30. Andy had developed myocarditis, inflammation of the heart, which was brought on by a viral infection While most people recover from myocarditis, Andy's body was unable to fight the infection due to his history of drug use. Soo sad! The 1st time I heard this song, I was 15 years old. I was sitting on the floor in our living room. They sang with so much emotion that I had tears running down my face. It didn't hurt that before this I found out that Barry and I shared the same birthday, me in 1963 and him in 1946. While I was crying, my daddy came in and told me to knock it off or he'd change the channel. He was mean.

Corey Newell they were brothers and wanted to reflect that in their own way and not promote their last name - they called themselves the Bee Gees since they started as kids 👍🏿🇦🇺

@@coreynewell9673 The groups name was originally the BG's used from the common initials between Barry Gibb, Bill Goode (promoter and driver) , Bill Gates (disc jockey in Brisbane) and their mom, Barbara Gibb. The name then evolved from The BG's to the Bee Gees.
