I am a 69 yr. old black female. I listen to this song every day. It was released 1978. I was married 1977. If it had been released in 1977, it would have been one of the songs in my wedding. (Today - July 23rd is my 47th wedding anniversary) A little background. Barry Gibb (middle) September 1, 1946. He and his wife Linda have been married for 53 years. They have 4 sons and one daughter who is the youngest. Also, 7 grandchildren. Barry's chest is shiny with blotches because when he was about 18 months, he pulled a pot of hot tea from off of a table. His mom said he didn't speak for a long time (close to 2 years.) He was close to dying because there was no skin grafting back then and gangrene was beginning to set in. Barry said he has no memory of it happening, just the scars to prove it. Robin (on our left - long hair) and Maurice (on our right - short hair) were fraternal twins. Maurice Gibb (December 22, 1949 - January 12, 2003) heart attack, while getting surgery for twisted intestines. Survived by wife and 2 adult children. Robin Gibb (December 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) doctors found out he had the same intestine problems as Maurice. When they went in to fix it, they found cancer. He is survived by wife and 4 adult children. Andy Gibb not pictured. (March 5, 1958 - March 10, 1988) He was too young to sing with his brothers. He had his own successful career. He and Barry could have been identical twins. He had a bad heart. Andy is survived by one daughter. You know the song 'Emotion' sung by Destiny's Child? Well --- the brothers wrote the song (1977) for the singer Samantha Sang. Destiny's Child has too much drama in it. But Barry said he liked it. Emotion kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJDahY2gpJ6UsM0si=Y863cKzsfSsxKiTP They wrote their own songs and wrote and produced songs for a lot of other artists. Barry didn't always sing in falsetto. They were asked if someone could sing falsetto on a song. Barry volunteered, and the rest is history. Robin sings falsetto too. On a side note, the first born is their sister, Lesley (Gibb) Evans. She can sing, but she did not want to be in the limelight. She lives a quiet life. She and Barry are the last two survivors of the family. Maurice passed away on Lesley's 58th birthday. They were so popular that some radio stations had a 'Bee Gees free' weekend. NO requests for their songs. There's so much to write about them. In your spare time, I think you'll like what they have contributed to the music industry. @Devonte Warner They are brothers (The Brothers Gibb). Barry (in the middle, is the oldest. And yes, I had a crush on him back in the day). The other two (Robin & Maurice) are fraternal twins. They had a younger brother (Andy Gibb) who had a great solo career. He was too young to join his older brothers at that time. The Bee Gees were big in the Black Community back in the day. Please react to more! Here’s a list with my interpretation of what genre I think they fall under: Too Much Heaven (R&B) Went to #1 How Deep Is Your Love (R&B Ballard), went to #1 Staying Alive (disco), went to #1 Night Fever (disco), went to #1 You Should Be Dancing (R&B or disco), went to #1 Fanny be tender with my love (R&B). Quincy Jones said this was his favorite R&B song. It’s a favorite of mine too. Jive Talking (R&B), went to #1 Nights on Broadway (R&B/Funk)..you’ll hear the brothers “natural” voices in this song. Tragedy (Techno? Pop) It also went #1 More than a woman (Disco/R&B) One of the best love songs ever made! Love you inside out (Funk/pop), went to #1 To love somebody (R&B) One of their earlier hits, from 1967!!! You’ll see how young they were. Massachusetts (pop/country), went to #1 Wind of Change (funk/r&b), live 1975 from the Midnight Special or live from their 1979 Spirits tour. They sing in their natural voices on this song. Alone (pop): One of the songs they made late in their career. Love So Right (R&B), One of Barry’s best falsetto songs ever. Words (pop, 1979 Spirits Tour). Barry pours his heart out on this song and they show his wife & son on screen some while he was performing it. Lonely Days (pop). One of the first songs they wrote after they got back together when they briefly broke up in 1969 then got back together in 1970 to write this. You Win Again (pop), If you want to hear some 80’s Bee Gees, this is a good one. Went #1 in the UK Run to Me (pop) How Can you mend a broken heart (R&B). The other song they wrote when they first got back together after a brief breakup. It was also their first #1 in the US Kiss of Life (rock). Shows a diverse side of them. One (pop), their last top 10 hit in the US Wedding Day (pop), a single they wrote for their wives! All of them had been married for a while. Barry is will married to this day to Linda for over 53 years! Rest Your Love on Me Awhile (country). Shows diversity! Bodyguard (R&B), Robb really shines on this song that could have been played on any R&B radio station! For Whom the Bell Tolls (pop), again, Robin shines on this one. Blue Island - live (pop). This song shows the perfect blend & harmony the brothers have. Especially if you do the acoustic one. Just the 3 of them with 2 guitars! Our Love, Don't Throw it all away-Bee Gee's or Andy's version (pop). After their brother Andy passed, they started performing this during shows in honor of him. Secret Love (pop). I love the best to this song! Barry & Robin leads. This is Where I Came in (live) (pop). From the very last CD they ever released. There is a live version out there from a tv show. That's a great one to see how they have evolved into the 2000's! The 1989 One for all tour medley (excellent vocals & some humor). This is a little long (over 12 min), but they go through about 7-9 songs in this medley with just the 3 of them around 1 mic either Barry in the guitar.

They’re not his original teeth. If you see vids of the brothers when they first started out, you can see they’ve all had a lot of dental work. Barry was given teeth that I think are a bit too big …. But he’s gorgeous anyway

This brings tears to my eyes. I’m 76, honestly those were the days. Great live music, just everywhere. What a blessing. We were introduced to black music from the States, it influenced our music so much here. Resulted in great home grown bands. Wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

Also…they wrote all their own songs as well as hits for other major artists! Please do other songs recorded by other artists that The Bee Gees wrote. Some include: If I Can't Have You (Yvonne Elliman) -- went to #1 Woman in Love ( Barbra Streisand)- went to #1!. In fact, The Bee Gees wrote every song on her Guilty CD, and Barry did 2 duets with her. And he did most of the background vocals on a lot of the songs. They won a Grammy for best song by a group or duo for Guilty. Islands in the Stream (Kenny Rogers & Dolly Partons) - went to #1. In fact, The Bee Gees wrote all the songs on Kenny's "Eyes that See in the Dark" CD with Barry doing a lot of background vocals. Heartbreaker (Deion Warwick). In fact, The Bee Gees wrote every song on this CD too. This was her best selling CD! The Bee Gees also did the Background vocals. Chain Reaction (Diana Ross) - went to #1 in several European countries! And yes, The Bee Gees wrote all the songs on this CD too. Barry also did the background vocals. Immortality (Celine Dion) The Bee Gees (went to number 1 in several countries),also sung background. The live 1997 from Vegas is excellent! More Than a Woman (Tavares) Love Me (Yvonne Elliman) Come on Over (Olivia Newton John) Emotions (Samantha Sang, with a lot of background vocals with Barry). Destiny's Child also recorded it. Grease--from the movie (Frankie Valli), went #1 Heart Beating in Time (Leo Sayer) Let me wake up in your arms (Lulu), who use to be married to Maurice Gibb A lot of Andy Gibb songs (Shadow Dancing, Everlasting Love, Love is Thicker than Water, Our Love, Don't Throw It Away; Desire;). Andy's 3 released solo songs all went to #1!

The is also I Cannot Give You My Love with Cliff Richard. Lovers and Friends with Ronan Keating Only One Woman with The Marbles Then there is Barry's collaboration with The Gatlin Brothers and Roy Orbinson on the song "Indian Summer" There is also all their solo careers, where Robin has most published. Barry did make a collaboration album with many of todays Country Stars called Greenfields in 2021 at the age of 74. The album consists of Bee Gees written songs rerecorded as duets between Barry and the above mentioned artists. Maurice sadly died in 2003 and Robin in 2012. So only Barry is left.

Loving the reactions to these amazing classics i was lucky enough to be a part of the best music 70’s,80’s and 90’s thats was REAL music! Bee Gees were icon’s 😊
You are so funny with your comments! You keep me entertained. I grew up in the 60's and 70's and we had some jammin' music. I'm glad you like it! 😎✌

They were brothers, Barry Gibb in the middle, and his fraternal twin brothers Robin on the left, and Maurice on the right. Yes, the ladies loved Barry, though he was happily married, has been since 1970, and still is to the same woman. I Liked your reaction. This song was a hit in the summer of 1979, and the Bee Gees were THEEEE biggest thing in music that year. Sadly, shortly after that they suffered radio burn out and a pretty serious back lash. It took them a little while to rebound world wide, and they never really got back to the popularity they had here in the US, though a decade later, 1989, they did hit the top 10 one more time with the song One. EDIT - I don't think his teeth were veneers back then. I think he has them now, but he's 78 years old now. But yeah, in 1979, he was all that and a side of fries (I think he still is).

I'm a 42 year old woman and my Boomer Mom got me into the Bee Gees, among other groups/bands. This song and 'Tragedy' are my 2 ABSOLUTE fav Bee Gees songs. And the guy with the high voice is the last remaining member of the group, Barry Gibb. My Fav one in the group.

I viewed the program, where Sir Barry was the final honoree. This was fine by me, as it was clear that everyone was wanted to see him. Therefore, we ended up watching the whole program, given that his moment of honor was unpredictable. That was good planning on the producers' part - they saved the best for last.

@@ellenbones He appeared on the Piers Morgan show and acknowledged his brief encounters. He mentioned that she had her own as well. She was present in the audience, accompanied by their daughter. What stood out about them was that they always held hands when together. NOpe that's what you want to believe he stayed married but it was an open marriage and he slept with a lot of women
@brcfan92 ай бұрын
@@brendawilson8208 Sorry but that is not true. Linda said he had cheated on her a couple of times after they got together. She didn't say he cheated after they had married. Piers asked Barry if he had ever cheated on her after they were married and he said no he never had. Neither one of them said anything at all about her cheating on him. Barry said she was a beautiful woman and had as many opportunities as he did and told how once Steve McQueen had tried to steal her away from him while they were at the Hard Rock Cafe and she was sitting on the back of his motorcycle. They have both been faithful to each other.
