Camilo Sesto was a Spanish pop singer. In the late 70s he stayed in London while recording a new album. During his free time there, he went to watch 'Jesuchrist Superstar". He got cautivated by the show so he decided to bring it to Spain. He became a producer, investing his own money. It was a bold move because he found a negative reaction from conservative forces and the powerful Catholic church. The show was a sucess. But it was such a big effort for Camilo Sesto's vocal chords and as far I as know, he never performed in a musical show, just kept as a pop singer.

This song is part of opera rock jesus Christ súperstar. The song is about the last hours of jesus before he was killed. The lyrics are beautiful and the meaning is devastating, jesus asking god to spare him all the pain he knows will come and finally accepting it.

Como recomendación, escucha toda la obra musical de Jesucristo Superestrella, para entender el contexto del tema de Getsemani (la oracion del huerto de los olivos), para que sea aun mas tu admiración por la interpretación, calidad vocal y musical de esta obra de los años 70's. Y espero que no se pierda la admiración por estos artistas que dejaron huella por ser completamente unos artistas verdaderos. Saludos desde Mexico.

To The Perseverance.. it would be good if you can upload this video with the lyrics translated into English, while Camilo is singing this song, that way you can have a yet better feeling and interpretation of what this singer is trying to transmit in every gesture and voice change from soft to harsh, from low to high pitch and from low decibels to high decibels, wich is something (not everything) of what Our Lord Jesus Christ must of felt during his final night (Thursday Evening) just before getting aprehended by the Roman Soldiers in the Garden of Getsemaní, and also anticipating all the torture he would have to go through and finally his death. 😢❤🙏
