This song became a big hit again for r&b singer Deniece Williams back in the summer of 1982. Her version peaked at #1 on the Billboard Soul chart and it peaked at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

As a 70 plus year old I'd like to state in my opinion it was the combination of words, melody, harmony, meaning in addition to the magical missing ingredient---- talent so much of what is missing today in what goes for music. Shawn you are so right we definitely had the best music back in our day.

Heard this on the radio when I was 15 and right away thought " I gotta get this record" and eventually wore out the grooves on the 45. The Royalettes version is so beautifully done is difficult to top. The girls singing the background vocals add to lead Sheila Ross Burnett's lead giving the record such an enchanting feeling. Written by Teddy Randazzo and Bobby Weinstein who also wrote "Goin Out of My Head" and "Hurt So Bad" and lots of others for Anthony and the Imperials."

My goodness I haven't heard this original version since 1965. This song by " Sheila Rose & The Royalettes" chart peaks were at #37 on Cash Box, and # 41 on Billboard and Record World respectively. They were a group from Baltimore Maryland. Why I haven't heard this song after all these years is beyond me. I am so happy you are reacting to this song. It brings back my childhood days, and great memories of my youth. Note: in (1982) Deniece Williams cover this song for her album "Niecy" and took it to #2 on the R&B charts. The video to this song by her is here on you tube. Please react to it. Awesome upload and reaction.

I was there and in the video, it was taken on the Brooklyn Hts Promenade 1966. It was the Dick Clark spin off show ''Where The Action is'' when it was filming there with other groups, I'm the 14 yr old dress in white, arms folded you see to the right side at 1:40. Me and my friend heard they were taping and walked 10 blocks from where we lived to see, other groups there taping were The Four Seasons doing ''Rag Doll'' which we saw. We had to wait about 6 weeks to see it on TV, fun times growing up then in me youth.

From the Summer of 1964 through late Spring 1965 songwriter, producer & recording artist the late Teddy Randazzo was on a roll writing & producing exclusively for Philly's Little Anthony & the Imperials. He wrote & produced 4 consecutive Hot 100 Top 20 songs (I'm On The Outside (Looking In), Goin' Out Of My Head, Hurt So Bad & Take Me Back as the group made an impressive comeback. Next up was supposed to be 'It's Gonna Take A Miracle' but due to a royalties dispute with the label, Little Anthony refused to record any new music which made Randazzo seek another artist to record it. Surprisingly he chose an all girl group from Baltimore, The Royalettes who had previously recorded for Philly based label Chancellor Records, to record & release it as a 45RPM on MGM in June 1965. The song was brilliantly produced with a full orchestra. Randazzo also achieved the almost impossible task of having an all female group sound almost dead on for Little Anthony. Many people including myself believed this was a new Little Anthony record until a Wibbage Jock obviously annoyed at getting requests for the new song by Little Anthony announce it was The Royalettes. Nationally it did not achieve very much success peaking at a disappointing #41 on the Hot 100. it would chart for 3 months on WIBG reaching the Top 20 for 3 weeks & spending 2 weeks at its peak #17. The songs popularity would continue to grow well into the 70's & would finish at #38 on the 1970 WFIL all time Top 300. In 1982, a cover version by Deniece Williams would peak at #10 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Hello, my name is Mt. Airy Ike, and I'm not an expert, nor critic, just someone who grew up in the 60's, and this video was shot in 1965, black and white ran on television until 1967. But I know now this music is not of your generation. These songs, It's Gonna Take A Miracle, just like My Girl, Baby Love, are household songs of my time. Back then, the lyrics where as important as the music. If this song blows you away, the here's one, very rare, but came out about the same time by the Varreations, called It's the Loving Season. On the Dion label, ran at the time by Georgie Woods ( famous Philly DJ) wife, and she also had another group signed called Brenda & Tabulations ( Right, On the tip of My Tongue) or Brenda Holloway, Every Little Bit Hurts, now if you really like that Royalettes song, get ready for what was common every three weeks or so, back in the sixties. Walking in to a record shop, buying the latest 45, ( a small record for single songs being released) from Motown, Atlantic, Philly International, King, Atco, A&M, and not having enough money to buy all the releases that can out that week. Good times, but anyway take a listen to those other songs, I know this review of your video is late, but, I just saw it, liked it, and just wish I could have been there to talk and share my years of listening to songs just like the for mentioned.
