I don't think it's right to associate the city of Baku with Dubai just because it also has some fancy modern skyscrapers. Baku is a completely different breed with its baroque and art nevau style of architecture, it has a character and history. It's the most remarkable example of a perfect blend of west and east.

I noticed shevan used desktop picture to describe Baku at least 2 times. Very true!! The whole area looks neat and clean. The view from promenade at bank of waterbody is stunning gorgeous! Baku is the combination of ancient and modern. They did great job to preserve the old European style buildings and castles which embeded their rich history

In my trip around the world earlier this year, I spent 4 nights in Baku, and really did enjoy the city, as the both of you seem to be doing. Nizami Street was very empty, as you noted in the video, but when I was there in the middle of June, it was packed with people. September is a slow travel month, so it's no surprise that it was slow there. The alley ways in the old town were a true joy to walk through, and they were also empty back in June. The Palace was an enjoyable self-guided tour, and it was a very pleasant walk from the flame towers all the way back to the Nizami street area where I stayed. I also went to Shikhov Beach, and enjoyed a pleasant walk along the Caspian Sea. The two of you seem to really like street cats. After Baku, I went to Izmir, Turkey, which must be the street cat capital of the world

It is cheap to fly from London to Baku with Wizzair via Budapest. It costs one way 70-120£ (depends on day), but the best flight is with AZAL. It is direct flight and lots of free food and dinks on the flight. We compared prices in skyscanner before flying.

I lived and worked in Baku for four years, 2006 to 2010, so 14 years ago, I recognise a lot of places from your video but it is much cleaner and tidier than I remember, though it changed a lot even in the four years I was there. Maybe I should go back to rekindle old memories. Though most of my memories are of rather seedy bars 😂
