Yes, the Elks has usually really interesting locations that get you close in town. Sometimes you will have just water but sometimes power as well. We used tbe Elks in several places in Alaska that were great. 😮

I love your first spot 1/2hr driving to a one spot w/pretty sights taken by what looked like a STO classic, should of parked and asked if they’d of shared the spot. I’m betting they would of 😉 special w/a famous van couple as yourselves… If it was the wife and I we so would of made room for ya’ll.. glad you all found a place to rest up that made you all feel safe, and lastly thanks for the video and sharing the adventure…

We use GAIA GPS for finding public lands as well as AllStays which doesn't require cell service to see dispersed areas.

As for zero cell service, you have two options. 1. A Garmin inReach. It uses a satellite for communication, and you give the web address to your loved ones and they can see where you are at all times. 2. A satellite phone and buy the cheapest plan and only use it for that rare time like this one or in emergencies.

Hello from England, we have the same problems with wildcamping (boondocking) in tourist areas . The one thing that has become very popular here in the UK is pub stops . You can stop overnight as long as you use the bar and / or restaurant. Just found your channel and love it .

After dinner, at dark, I pull in to a nice hotel parking lot and pull the curtain. I ready my van at the restaurant before I slip into the hotel lot in back.

I used to go to Jerome ( from Los Angeles ) on weekends back in the late 1970's, but it's definitely gotten a bit more touristy. On The Dyrt it shows a lot of boondock sites east in the Verde Valley - that might have been the better bet. Down towards Cottonwood.

I've stayed at that cracker barrel. It's nice there. There's also an elks lodge down the street that might let you park for 10.00.

The thing about Cracker Barrel is that everyone knows you can stay at those and until they put out signs and make it public knowledge, you are golden without asking.

Grandfather worked in the copper mine and grandmother ran a boarding house ( think it was like a restaurant). Glad to see that your van is getting fixed. Happy travels.

Always fun! The wife and I went to Bisbee and stayed at the "haunted" Grand Hotel. I can HONESTLY say I saw a ghost in our room the one night we stayed there... just sayin'.

Love the trip to Jerome. Been there a couple of times. Interesting you guys ended up in Prescott and didn’t go back towards Cottonwood. I think you might have had better luck. You know we full time so we always have a plan A,b,c and D. We have stayed in many Cracker Barrel’s and Walmarts. It still looked like a fun time. See you guys next week.

I was in AZ on a November trip last year. I know it's very popular that time of year so I had res at 3 or 4 State Parks. The Dead Horse Ranch St Pk is very near Jerome and is really a nice park. Different loops have water & elec, elec only, or primitive. It was very busy, but most people only stayed 1 or 2 nights. I was there 4 nights so had a chance to observe. Was this Jerome trip a impromptu visit? For all the time and gas you are spending + stress, you might as well have made reservations in advance and made the trip more enjoyable. Also, have you ever used Harvest Hosts? My HH stays have been some of my most favorites!! I'm sure HH around that area are very popular, but they are so great for 1 night stays enroute.

There are a lot of forest service roads up on Mingus mountain where you can Boondock. Sorry Prescott wasn’t van friendly! That’s where we live; wish I would have seen you. Also, when you’re Boondocking how do you watch tv?

Way to check out the cabinet repairs. Does your Ram have a significant engine breaking when you shift it down to 2nd or 3rd coming down a steep winding road? Mine just rev’s way up and I end up using the brakes more than I would expect.

Been to Jerome years ago. Narrow roads but was an interesting trip. How do you handle the grades on the roads and were those one way roads trying to find a boondock site? Hate to meet another vehicle on what look like very narrow roads. Do enjoy your videos. Kinda leary of off road travel as not sure how well the tires they put on these units are.

Always go in CB and ask for permission from the manager. Face to face is always better. Tell them your in a class B.

Jerome is a fun spot. Last time there I camped around Perkinsville Bridge which is a bit further up the road from the first spot you tried. ~15 miles. The road eventually can get you all the way to Williams. Bunch of spots up that way. I enjoyed White Horse Lake Campground a few days later on that trip. Great hike to Sycamore Falls nearby. Looks like you also tried spots on the mountain between Jerome and Prescott. Lots of people long-term camping in that area so hard to find spots. Hope the new wallpaper is hanging in there!

Sorry but this is not a very smart move financially. Dumping all this money into a depreciating asset like an RV is crazy. Right now interest rates for homes are at all time high and buying a house is harder than ever for most Americans. There are tons of youtubers who quite RV life after just 3 to 4 years. After you get tired of RV life and want to go back into a house, it will be much more difficult to get back in due to increasing house prices and interest rates throughout the nation. I bought my 3bed and 2bath house in San Jose California for 800K in 2019. Now it is worth $1.3M and interest rates are at 8%! Unless you guys are already very wealthy, it is all fun and games until reality hits.
