For the Fact that Molly don't give a damn about all this BS like "chosen one" "The boy who lived" etc etc. Come on he's just a boy who became an orphan in a age before he able to grasp anything. Had a miserable childhood with his abusive aunt and his so called family. A poor boy who never know his parents and how love of parents feels like. That's how Mrs. Weasley always saw harry. 😊

My favourite bit eith mrs weasley is in the books and I wish it had made it to the movie at the end of gof when she can clearly tell harry is traumatised she hugs him and I think the phrasing was as if by a mother harry couldn't ever remember being hugged like this (something along those lines I don't have the book in front of me so I can't quote it exactly lol) that line always makes me cry

All I can say is don't give up on this series. It helped shape an entire generation of children all across the globe. It defined the times, it was the "Tolkien" or "Star Wars" to my generation. But because of these books and films, it helped guide me to find real friends in life as a kid. It resonates strongly with me and has guided me at my lowest points in life. It's life lessons has been a reminder to myself to be "kind" even in the worst of situations. I'll always be forever in gratitude of this series. I hope every child has something dear to them like Harry Potter did for myself.

I got in to the books and movies as an adult. I've always considered these... in the most kind interpretation possible... kids stories. Geekier folks than I dive deep in to the plot and world-building holes and then have fun trying to come up with ways that they make sense (and honestly - sometimes "hole"). But I've never had to have them be complex. They're fun. They get more complex (kids deserve more than fluff). Both the books and the films. Now days... these are in my "going to sleep" rotation of films that are comforting, engaging, but so familiar that I can shut down and drift off.

@@arandomnamegoesherewell the books are basically a kid friendly Tolkien. The elements borrowed from Tolkien is huge and, while instead set at mostly one school, follows much of the same plot - basically to destroy the Horcrux (ring) while things like dementors (Ringwraith’s, Nazgûl) follow the orders of their dark lord Voldemort (Sauron) and one very “little person” must complete the task with a friendly elderly, riddle taking wizard (Gandalf) My point being, if you want the world building you go to the source which is Tolkien, the silmarillion has the history of middle earth back to the worlds creation

Still listening over your post comments. The four houses and earth-fire-wind-water is an amazing analogy. Gryffindor would be fire, Slytherin would be water (snakes and their common room is even under the black lake), Hufflepuff would be earth (food and plants) and Ravenclaw would be wind (bird.) To answer some of your questions (bare in mind these answers are Not spoilers, so it's OK 😉); First, I don't know if you know this but you have been lucky enough to watch the extended version of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone with the deleted scenes added to the movie. 🎞👍 There are no portales. According to the Harry Potter novels the wizarding world is also the muggle world. The thing is that most muggles don't see some of the magic happening around them due to magical protection charms placed on certain areas. For example, Hogwarts, as you saw, is a huge gothic magical castle. But if a muggle comes across it they only see a bunch of castle ruins. And the closer they walk to it the more the muggle will suddenly think they have someplace else they need to go and be at right away. During the rare occasion that a muggle does witness magic by accident the wizarding government will place a memory charm on the muggle so that he or she will forget what they just saw. The reason the little girl in the Weasley family didn't go with all the boys to Hogwarts is because she is not old enough yet. You have to be 11 years old to attend and start your first year at Hogwarts. If I recall right, Hogwarts is paid by the wizarding government. So the school and board is free for all magical children. What families have to pay is all the school supplies including uniforms and wands for example. You think Harry Potter has a smart ass mouth in the movie but in the books he was even worse when it came to smart ass comeback lines. He was far more sassier and mischievous. LOL! 📖😉😁👍 It's funny that you related Quidditch with normal real world sports. That is exactly what Harry Potter did when Oliver Wood was teaching Harry how to play Quidditch. BTW, did you know that people became such a massive fan of the fictional sport of Quidditch that college students made it into a real world international sport that are played in real colleges all over the world. Players play with broomstick between their legs and the snitch is a person dressed in gold with a handkerchief tucked into his or her's belt running around all over the place. The seeker has to catch the person playing as the snitch by grabbing onto the handkerchief and pulling it off the snitch's body. You can do a KZbin search and view a few matches played in different countries. I have seen 2 or 3 Quidditch matches in person back in the day. Tons of fun. If you ever want to know how Quidditch is played and it's fictional history the author of Harry Potter, JK Rowling also wrote other books for charities. One of them is called Quidditch Through the Ages and it is written as if it were one of Harry Potter's text books. 🧹📚 Nicholas Flamel is an actual legendary alchemist that really did existed back during the medieval ages. The story of The Philosopher's Stone (also known as the Sorcerer's Stone) is a real world story like King Arthur and Merlin the Magician is a real world yet also legendary fantasy story. JK Rowling used a lot of fictional stories and mythological creatures like centaurs and unicorns and made it look like those fictional things and stories had always existed was very much real. It just that muggles always thought they were all fairytale or myths.🦄 I already wrote this in another comment but again to summarize: Gryffindors are brave, Ravenclaws are smart and love to learn, Slytherins are ambitious and Hufflepuffs are loyal and hard working. Students are place into their Hogwarts house depending on their personality traits. Each house is represented by a mascot. Gryffindor lion, Ravenclaw eagle (not raven), Slytherin snake, Hufflepuff badger. 🦁🦅🐍🦡 Each trial in the dungeons of Hogwarts the Harry, Ron and Hermione had to go through in order to get to the Sorcerer's Stone was created by several Hogwarts employees as an obstacles and protection for the Sorcerer's Stone. Each employee was in charge of one protective sections. Fluffy was Hagrid's, as you know.🐶🐶🐶 Devil Snare was Professor Sprout of the Herbology classes (which you will meet soon).🪴 The flying keys was Professor Flitwick of the Charms classes where the students learn the Winguardian Leviora charm spell.🗝 The wizards chess game was Professor McGonagall of the Transfiguration classes.♟️What you don't see in the movie but are in the book is an unconscious troll lying on the floor that belonged to Professor Quirl from the Defense of the Dark Arts class 👹 and in the next room was Professor Snape's potions riddle.⚗️🧪 The last room as you saw was Professor Dumbledore's Mirror of Erised (the name is desire backwards because its a mirror).🪞Fan theories have it that each one of those trials represents a Harry Potter book. I will leave it there so not to spoil anything. 🤫😉 Just to warn you without giving any spoilers the Harry Potter books and movies get darker and darker as Harry gets older and older. You read the books or view the movies with Harry Potter's point of view and state of mind and mental maturity. The first book and film Harry is only 11 years old. So you only see and understand the world as Harry sees and understands the world around him. As he grows older and matures more his world changes and gets darker the more he understands adult concepts like death for example. As an 11 year old you might know what death is but you don't really truly understand loss like you do once you start to reach adulthood. Harry Potter is very much a coming of age story that is not only very worth watching but very worth reading even more. 📚🎞🏰🧙‍♂️🧙‍♀️🪄💖 I almost forgot. You confused Cerberus with a hydra. You are right about the three headed dog being the guard to the underworld. But it's the hydra that also has multiple heads that if you cut one then two more grows in its place. 😉👍

Great reaction--I'm excited to see what you guys think of the rest of the series! A couple of things: The reason Ron saw himself being celebrated in the mirror is because he's the 6th boy in a family of 7 kids. He's felt overshadowed by his older brothers his entire life, so there's a sense of insecurity and under-appreciation that runs subtly through his character. Also, the books may be big (really only 4-7 are), but honestly the print isn't that small, so they look bigger than they actually are. And the sense of magic, wonder, and fun is so pervasive while reading that they just fly by. You really don't feel the length at all, especially since by the 4th book you're 100% invested in the characters and the world.

Thank you! It's crazy to think now that we've finished the series that that's exactly what Dumbledore was doing all along. He always seemed to come help at the right moment, but mostly left them to their own devices knowing they would figure it out for themselves because of how highly capable they are. Movies have a really good way of showing us the subtleties through little context clues like the characters demeanor and expressions sometimes where there isn't dialogue and it really helps piece things together, but there are also so many times we're completely completely caught off guard just like when we found out the whole story of Snape in the final film. It's so fun to experience movies, and Harry Potter has been by far one of the best yet! - Gabi

I have to say that I also felt as a kid unsure of what the fantasy genre meant and whether I would like it. As an adult, I have come to feel that it may be one of the most significant genre's to experience. It can truly bring you into any situation, any conflict, any kind of culture or political system you can imagine. Your brain starts to engage and realize incredible ideas without any limitations. I believe it stirs the creativity within all of us which can lead to a deeper inspection of who we are fundamentally, as an individual & collectively. There are so many benefits that have been cited through research as well. But on a more personal level, it is a landscape with so much freedom in it that can lead to such profound discoveries of who we are or how we might seek to impact the world around us. 🌎 It holds value beyond measure. Much love to all you fellow adventurers of the fantastical! May it bring you strength & growth!

Just wanted to clarify something about Quidditch that wasn't explained in the movie and it always bugs me. Catching the snitch does not automatically win the game, it just ends the game and is worth 150 points. A team can still lose if they catch the snitch, but are too far behind in points compared to the other team. So, if you catch the snitch and the other team still has more points than you with the +150, then they win.

This is so awesome!! The roasting of the lesser mentioned houses is so funny/interesting. Especially since it's such a big part of the HP experience and one of the primary touch points between fans and the series. You two will definitely have to take the sorting quiz within the Wizarding World site. As a Ravenclaw, I must object to the bottom of the barrel notion😂 It is definitely worth checking out more about the houses. In future movies there is some brief interaction with characters outside of the two more prominent houses. Anyways, I digress. Love the openness with which you both approach the channel. So refreshing to see people address real human experiences along with reactions to things that help us reflect/escape. All the best!!

50:43. No, the snitch doesn't mean you automatically win. Catching the snitch awards 150 points and stops game play. If you are down by 160 points, you would NOT want to catch it because you will still lose 150-160. Also - it's good to note that the game can continue for days, if it happens to take that long to catch it ❤. The lore behind this story is fantastic, I'm excited to see you guys dive deep

Cerberus was the name of the 3 headed dog that helped Hades guard the underworld, not letting spirits sneak back out to the land of the living. There's also a 7-headed serpent/dragon that if you cut off 1 head then 2 grow back. That's called a Hydra.

You guys. From time to time, I indulge in watching reactions here on KZbin to several of my favorite movies; I do not really invest a lot of time into it (more of a music person), but it is sometimes rewarding to see other people experience the impact of a piece of art as it "filters" through their personality and reflects their personal experiences. With your channel (to which I am new), I was basically interested to see how in the world you managed to trick the algorithm and load the whole movie uncut. :))) Because looking at the duration of the video, that's what seemed plausible! Well color me impressed. Not only do you both possess a wealth of knowledge and not just familiarity, rather an advanced level of comfort with our world's cultural tropes - you also beam out that emotional IQ: the respect for each other, the ability to listen, and - in consequence - to keep the dialogue constantly engaging without resorting to "reactors' tricks" such as, well, overreaction, or catering to the gallery's wishes. :) The time spent with you was short. I bet this channel you got going is unique - maybe not for everyone, but certainly for this commentator! Listening to your discussion is almost like participating in a meeting of a book lovers' club, in the best sense. ;) Seriously, I was prepared to jump to the next reaction right away, sleeping time be darned, just to find that this is all new, and the journey into Harry Potter universe will proceed on its real-life pace! Well, get prepared, as with every return to Hogwarts you will find loads more to sink your wisdom teeth into! And not only that, but to try your natural empathy and identify even more with the inhabitants of this Wizarding world... it will be ultimately an immensely fulfilling journey, one can feel already, since hardly ever have I seen first time viewers take that much and that seriously to the FIRST movie of HP franchise: many just casually write the initial ones as "kids' movies", and react accordingly. Instead, you uncovered all the wealth of meaning under that surface. Needless to say, I am on for the ride. "Obviously," to cite Prof. Snape in his voice. ;)) All the best, Big G P. S. regarding Ancient Greek mythical terminology: the "pet" whose heads if cut spring back up and multiply would be the Hydra, a wild monster. That one had 9 heads even to begin with! However, in our case, Fluffy was a kin to Cerberus - the tri-headed hound of Hades. Surely the Greeks were convinced three heads allowed for better securing the entrance, or rather - the exit from the underworld, so that no soul would endeavor slipping back out. Fun times and places!

Please have some respect for Hufflepuff, we're actually really chill! 😭 Here's a description from the wiki: "Students belonging to this house were known to be hard-working, friendly, loyal, honest and rather impartial. It might be that due to their values, Hufflepuffs were not as competitive as the other houses, and were more modest about their accomplishments. Hufflepuff was the most inclusive among the four houses; valuing hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its students. Hufflepuffs were known to have a strong moral code, and a sense of right and wrong. Hufflepuffs were usually accepting of everyone. Students in Hufflepuff were known to value everyone and treat them as equal. "
