Why people always have to bash the first movies ?
@HadassaMoon144 Жыл бұрын
Because they were very child friendly. But Harry Potter series is a bildungsroman so each book/movie grows in maturity with him. Therefore, the later movies would appeal more to an older audience.
@arandomnamegoeshere Жыл бұрын
I'm with Amber on this. But it's not bashing. The tone of the stories change over the years - which is pretty well done. The series seems like it's going to be a simple youth wish fulfillment story. But even this first story... hitting all those notes... hints that there is something more to come with Snape. He seems like the obvious mustache (or cape) twirling villain. But he isn't. Likewise the world of Harry Potter has more than expected.

You two are gonna love these movies!! Heads Up -- as the years go by at Hogwarts, and the kids grow up, the movies' themes get darker and darker and the evil in the stories gets worse and worse. Also, the kids get more and more knowledge in magic, so the magic elements increase every movie too. For the most part, each movie is a year at Hogwarts, with a few exceptions. It is soooo worth the journey!! Remember, one reason this series is so well loved is because JK Rowling was writing them as her target audience was growing up, just like the kids in the books....so that audience became VERY close to the characters.

I read the books and I loved them. I was in my late 40’s early 50’s when I read them. One of my biggest regrets is I was moving overseas because of my job and I gave the whole set of them to the boy who lived next door and they were hardcover books. I hope you watch all the movies or better still read the books to your children although it might be better to wait a year or so to read the first one to your oldest but I am not an expert on children because I never had any.

I was in my late 20s when the first book came out. I was just starting out as a writer, and I didn't know what I wanted to write about. I was getting into journalism, but when the books came out, I was hooked! Then after the last book came out, I thought, now what? Then I got an idea for a fantasy novel... lol! Due to many reasons, I dropped doing journalism, and went back to what intrigued me so much growing up, fantasy and science fiction!

One thing to remember with this series is that it was written so that as each book was released and the readers grew up, the themes would get more mature and grow with them. This first one is more simplistic and since Harry is 11 years old, he deals with 11 year old type problems like an 11 year old would. It gets more intense as the series goes on. And, I think, gets better with each book/movie.
@amber.ren_1995 Жыл бұрын
First off lol maybe a little bit of that is true but mostly no lol there's nothing simplistic about learning that there's some evil wizard out there that wants you dead and murdered your parents. Not even in the Wizarding World is that seen as normal for an 11 year old or simplistic lmfao 😅🤣🤣🤣 interesting that you think so.

My sister who always struggled with her reading bought the audio books and read along with them. It got her reading for pleasure when she was in her 50s. I was a school librarian and totally recommend the books as well. When your kids get a little older you can introduce them to the books. It is true the books and movies get more and more mature and complex so don’t rush it. They will endure and are already “classics”. The problem with being introduced too young is that many of the things that happen are beyond their understanding - then they are bored (because they don’t understand). Then when they are old enough to understand they think “I read that when I was in 2nd grade and it was boring!” So no rush! The same can definitely be said for The Lord of the Rings! Sometimes timing is everything! Snape is a very complex character! Keep watching!

You can keep your bowlers black, Your top hats sleek and tall, For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat And I can cap them all. You might belong in Gryffindor, Where dwell the brave at heart, Their daring, nerve, and chivalry Set Gryffindors apart; You might belong in Hufflepuff, Where they are just and loyal, Those patient Hufflepuffs are true And unafraid of toil; Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw, if you've a ready mind, Where those of wit and learning, Will always find their kind; Or perhaps in Slytherin You'll make your real friends, Those cunning folks use any means To achieve their ends. So put me on! Don't be afraid! And don't get in a flap! You're in safe hands (though I have none) For I'm a Thinking Cap!" 🧙♂️🧙♀️🪄✨⚡🖤 BTW, I was sorted into Gryffindor in the Pottermore (now called Wizarding World) official website. Snape is my favorite character, but Alan Rickman was my favorite actor. He was a fabulous actor all around, but played these dark characters especially well. One of the only celebrity deaths that made me cry. I hope you enjoy these enough to go all the way through. In my opinion they just get better (and more serious/dramatic) as the story unfolds, but I know they aren’t for everyone. Especially since this franchise is so embedded in our culture at this point. Welcome to Pottermania! You've gone down the rabbit hole! I prefer the books, myself, but it's quite possible to enjoy all the movies without reading them. The books get darker (as has been mentioned) as the series goes along, but they also get longer. The producers had to make significant changes from the fourth movie on, to keep the movie length practical. Sometimes clues and whole characters are cut out, leaving the audience to ask questions. But, as I said, the movies can still stand by themselves.

YAY! I was hoping you guys would take a trip into the Wizarding World. I wasn't sure if you had already seen this series or not. As everyone will tell you, the plot gets more intense as the years pass, darker themes as Harry & crew grow into their teens. The first two are more of a "kid's movie" but by the end of the series, they have definitely matured & grown into full on drama/action films.
