This is the sequel to the animated Disney classic because there are a lot of references to it. Like how he dived in front of the sun is the same way he dived in front of the moon in the original. And him running in mid-air like he did when he was fighting Hook to save Tiger Lilly.

Well I don’t know if it’s a direct sequel to the Disney movie, I think it’s just a sequel to the Peter Pan story in general

@@nsasupporter7557 No, it is. Look it up. It followed the 1924 silent film and 1953 animated film closely.

I have always thought that. I believe that Steven Spielber’s desire, and rightfully so, was to make a live action version that ressembled the cartoon as much as possible (and boy how he succeeded!). This film is pure magic, specially when you factor-in the John Williams score! No other Peter Pan live action movie can even compare. Amazing!

One of the 90s movies of my childhood alongside Muppet Treasure Island and The Pagemaster that made me want to be a pirate at the time 🙂 Spielberg might be disappointed by the final film but it’s still a fun movie with great performances from Robin Williams, Dustin Hoffman, and Bob Hoskins. The score is great too, “Flight to Neverland” which plays when Peter remembers and starts to fly again is one of John Williams most underrated pieces.

RIP Robin Williams, no one can replace him. he was such an amazing actor. that’s julia roberts playing tinker bell. i had the biggest crush on ruffio and i know i wasn’t the only one. i named one of my cats ruffio cause of him. oh also at 9:52 that’s a female playing that part as the guy, pretty cool huh?

YES!! Love this movie! It was originally going to be a musical with Michael Jackson as Peter Pan and David Bowie, Mick Jagger or Tim Curry in the role of Captain Hook. It was even going to have a 1985 Christmas Day release, but it was delayed by Paramount Pictures, causing the movie to be stuck in development hell for 6 years as Steven Spielberg was too busy working on epic films like Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom, The Color Purple, Empire Of The Sun, Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade and Always. Tri Star Pictures bought the film rights and production finally started in 1990. Julia Roberts has said in interviews that "Steven Spielberg is a spoiled selfish man-child who wouldn't let her do anything about her character," while Spielberg called her"a nightmare to work with, and that she wasn't a very nice person to work with." The crew even called her TinkerHell due to the onset drama between her and Spielberg. The film was released Christmas Day 1991, but it was not well received by critics, but it became a box office success, making $300 million dollars against a $75 million dollar budget. It's now a cult classic.

There is a sure-fire way to keep, or regain that childlike imagination, that I learned some years ago...and, lucky you, it's a practice that is gaining in not only social acceptance but also in genuine popularity. It is the engagement in role-playing games, of any sort. There are dozens or hundreds of sorts nowadays, so it's easy to find one or more to fit anyone's tastes. I cannot recommend them enough, for creating incredible, fanciful memories.

"Rufio! Rufio! Ru-Fi-OOOOOOOOOOOOOh!" Fun Fact: Dante Basco made a Rufio prequel fan film here on KZbin. Critical Failure Fact: Despite the deep love and affection this film has garnered over the years since its release, the movie has a 29% rating on Rotten Tomatoes as critics panned it during its worldwide release. For once, I agree. Great movie ruined by an awful third act. Historical Fact: Peter and his family fly Pan Am airlines to London. Pan Am went out of business on December 4, 1991, exactly one week before this movie's release on December 11, 1991. The failure of the airline was due to failing standards of maintenance and safety, combined with the loss of a plane in a terrorist bombing. Cameos Cameos Fact: The kissing couple on the bridge who begin to float when some fairy dust lands on them as Tinkerbell takes the unconscious Peter back to Neverland were George Lucas and Carrie Fisher (who also did some uncredited script rewrites) in a cameo. Gutless, the male bearded pirate who is locked in the "Boo Box" with scorpions, was played under heavy make-up by Glenn Close. This was Gwyneth Paltrow's second movie. She appears briefly as the teenage Wendy during the quick sequence as Wendy is growing up. Jimmy Buffett is one of the pirates who attempts to steal Peter's shoes when he first arrives in Neverland. Phil Collins cameos as a police officer in the beginning.
