Try to book in Second Class AC at least and if you want a little bit of privacy and less distraction then book First class. Especially prefer first class and Second class in northern parts of India. In normal trains, the toilets will not be that much clean so after deciding your destination prefer trains like Tejas, Rajdhani, Vande Bharat, or Shatabdi if they run on the route o your destination, in those trains, you will get clean toilets mostly and good food and they usually run fast and on time as well most of the time. Have a good trip in our India(Bharat) and still keep your guard a bit up for scams especially in Northern Parts and tourist places though you will find good people most of the time still there are scammers as well, you do not need to be vigilant all the time and ruin your experience but keep your eyes open scammers and enjoy the hospitality and friendliness of rest of the all amazing people from our Bharat(India). Hi Luke & Naomi, the train coach you travelled isn’t 3rd class, it is 3 Tier AC which has 3 beds to sleep on each side, a lower, a middle, and upper berth. There is also a 2 Tier AC coaches which is much spacious as it has only a lower and upper berth, and no middle berth, love your videos, it is very natural.

In Pondicherry you can try to stay at rock beach with the guest house of arobindo ashram as it is nearest to beach and also very cheap too. Bathrooms are clean. But ac rooms are usually full. Rock beach is very nice for walking in the evening.

That train started from DELHI IN Dec/ Jan when temp is around 3..5 degrees in night. And you are on a short trip to PONDY from another station all in a tropical heat of at least 25 degrees in the night and around 35..40 during day. So traveller's always find that what ever be the READING ON THE THERMOSTAT , COMPLAINTS WILL SURELY BE THERE. AND THIRD CLASS COMPARTMENTS RUNNING NOW ARE MOSTLY MODIFIED NON AC COACHES OF LAST DECADE.

There have been numerous cases of street urchins and roadside ' romeos ' molesting foreign tourists by taking advantage of their lack of local knowledge and naivete. It is sad but true. If you have any problems with the toilets, just call the number that is displayed near the door. The railways would respond and clean the toilets within a couple of minutes. Swatch barath is implemented vigorously across India in all the departments.

Next time try Bande Bharat express ✨ it's a semi high speed 🚄 and it's fastest technically in south Asia. And India has some of the expensive trains in the world too like Maharaja Express, Deccan odysse, palace on wheels, Rajasthan on wheels etc..

You should travel by AC Chair car which will be more nicer, and you wont be able to stretch and sleep but it will be reclining seats. Also try a new class of trains called Vandhe Bharath. It is expensive but comparable to many European train network.

If your budget allows book 2nd class ac, and opt for the side berths (two seaters), it is more private with curtains, so for long journey I recommend u take 2nd class ac

That's AC 3 tier category..... The real 3rd class is super crowded.... 72 person capacity carriage will have 300 folks jammed in..... U can travel 500 km journey in 3 US dollars in 3rd class. In ac 3 teir it would be 12 -15 us dollars for 500 k travel.

Book 1st AC or 2 AC if you are expecting Clean train cars. 3rd class / General class passengers do have cleanliness on their top of list. Reaching destination on time is.

It's quite amazing to know that the Indian Railway is maintaining their punctual timing as per their schedule in a long 2000 and odd km. I'm glad to see you arriving in Pondicherry, a nice and clean city with French Villas around the main town where liquors are cheaper than Chennai. I used to have beers in big Jars at Pondicherry bars. Enjoy your stay in the Union territory.

Whoa that toilet was not what you find in most ac trains in India, that was a special case of someone clogging that toilet. Please don't judge.All other toilets in Indian trains are generally clean.

If you have any problems while you’re onboard in a train you can tweet your problem by tagging Indian Railways, and don’t forget to mention your pnr number mentioned in your ticket… (you can make complaint about theft, dirty washroom, dirty coaches) Indian Railways resolve the issue as soon as possible as they can

Travel to places in Tamilnadu hill stations like Kolli hills, Ooty, Kodaikanal, Topslip,Munnar.Famous places like Madurai, Trichy, Thanjore, Kanyakumari. Check based on your plane some of them are near to Kerala state. Lot more places are there. Check in internet too.. You are most welcome to India. Enjoy ur stay. Sure some of them are rude and money minded.. Just calm and ignore them ....

Please try to visit different places in different regions of India, land of diversity. all other countries are made on sameness but this is the only nation which has been made on diverseness. every state would feel like a different country. in every 50 km dialects, foods, culture change in the country. jungles, deserts, mountains, beaches, volcanoes india has lot to offer. in india temperature ranges from -60c to 52c. though the north india has taken lot of battering from invasions over last 2500 years, the south still maintains some of traditional india's culture. North, south and north-east of the nation are completely different to each other.
