How are you so clear about debt management? I am a little confused is the three smallest debts outside the step change. Can you save towards your car for year 2026? Excited to hear your progress as a uk citizen, its encouraging. When is your next update planned please?

When you guys paid off your smaller creditors, did you do that through stepchange? Or just pay the creditor yourself and then let stepchange know? Im just about to start a dmp with payplan

Wow, what a great video, I have just entered a DMP myself, i hope mine works out like yours. Please may I ask, did the creditors put up a fight at all about agreeing to the DMP? 🙏
@50somethingbudgets
@50somethingbudgets Жыл бұрын
We had no issues with any of the creditors. Our budget was in line with stepchange’s recommended spending on things like food etc which helped. Good luck with your DMP, it has really helped us get to grips with our finances 🙂

How does it affect your credit rating whilst on the DMP?
@50somethingbudgets
@50somethingbudgets 10 ай бұрын
It ruins it completely and will take 6 years for the defaults to drop off.

I thought you could only do a DMP if you earn a low wage. Like if you have 1k a month left over can you still go into one? x
@50somethingbudgets
@50somethingbudgets Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t matter what your income is. If you don’t have enough income to pay your monthly payments after your basic living expenses then you may be able to enter into a DMP. We look like we have a lot left over but this is because my husband receives bonuses from work. Theses are not guaranteed and so are not included in our DMP. If we didn’t have these we would be on a much, much tighter budget. You can input your budget into the step change website or speak to someone on the phone and they can advise you what options are available 🙂

Credit cards are the work of the devil sometimes, we do have one but we only use it twice a year to pay for a weeks shopping just to keep it open just in case we ever need to use, we just put it away and to be honest it never crosses our mind to use it, we are not well off because we are pensioners but I suppose it,s just a buffer should we ever need it, just a thought that maybe that may work for you.
