It's Sunday...time for the Wonderful World of Denise and John! So sorry to hear of all the issues you had with what should have been a basic counter install. Very frustrating, but you have clearly shown us how to make lemonade with lemons. The powder room is beautiful!!! You did such a wonderful job in fixing the mistakes, freshening up the space and adding your design touches. That mirror is perfect! As for a favorite project, I can't pick. Each one is a favorite. You are doing an amazing job of creating a most beautiful home for your family. Enjoy and thanks for sharing.

Totally agree! I had no idea it could get such a warm luster. It looks so beautiful and literally nothing compares with the feeling beautiful wood like that brings to space. It's unparalleled and cannot be recreated exactly so I'm so happy it could be made so beautiful again and not covered up with paint or something.

I always love how raw your videos are and how you show the reality of renovating things. The trial and error and things that worked and didn’t work. All the other videos I watch make everything look easy and perfect and like nothing ever goes wrong. Thanks for being you Denise !!! You are awesome, and an amazing mom keep doing your thing!

I am so impressed with who you and your husband are as people. You took a situation that brought you disappointment and frustration and you found a way to let it go. You were then able to push forward and do such a beautiful job! Your children hear and see your actions. I just have to say that you're setting such a good example for those little ones. Knowing when to let go makes us better, healthier people. We need more of that nowadays.

I just cant believe they gouged your walls putting in a countertop was defective. I know there is nothing you can do about it now, but I hope someone else did the measuring, cutting and install this time...and they should have fixed the wall and replaced the wallpaper! Thank goodness you have such a sweet little helper💖
@marywest28963 жыл бұрын
i just can't pick a favorite, but the painting of all the walls and bits of beautiful wall paper you put here and there, and then painting the fireplace. man that just made a new place...i would think about installing some shelf liner for the shelves in the bathroom, something cool that would tie in with the wall paper, it would lighten up the inside to see better, but that is just me, as i say it's your home and you are doing a wonderful job. it looks like you have hired a pro decorator to come in, when your babies are older that could be a career choice for you...it just flows from you like art from an artist. of course the kitchen, forgot how stunning that turned out...lord i just can't pick....i think the original designer could see it now he would be thrilled by your changes.

I love how it turned out! You did a great job fixing their issues! The problem Is Home Depot puts it in their contract the if the sub contractors do sloppy work they are not at fault. So what happens....sub contractors don’t care because nothing is going to happen to them! No one takes pride in their work anymore :(

I’ve been painting the interiors of my 70’s cabinets in tinted primer. I’m old, so brightening them up helps me see what’s in them. I also line everything with removable shelf paper. I hate when contractors cause unnecessary damage. Just because there are fine lines in the contracts covering their butts, is no reason for them not to make an effort to not damage your walls etc. I’ve been around building and construction for 35 years. They just basically don’t care and have no accountability. Glad you’re able to make repairs yourself!!!

The powder room looks absolutely amazing! I'm sorry you had the issue with the counter top, walls and wallpaper but I hope you think it was well worth the wait and extra work! I grew up in Broomfield in a 60's style home so there's a lot that you have in your home I had in mine like the old counter tops with the metal edging which bring bring back great memories. Of course my mom was like you - so creative. All that counter top was removed and replaced and wallpaper was added to the plain walls. I can't pick a favorite room of yours, they are all beautiful! 💕

Same thing happened to us when we had worktops fitted in the kitchen. We’d just had it decorated and they gouged out huge holes in the wall. I love how beautiful the wooden doors looked after you oiled them - just lovely. The whole room is sooo nice now. My favourite has to be the kitchen. I think it’s because it was built by John. The best things are done with/for love.

Love your transformation. One thing that I do for my cabinets, especially for under the sink is to purchase some vinyl flooring and line the shelves with it. It makes cleaning easier, plus can save wear and tear on the cabinets. I do this in my house and in the rentals that I own. It can save your cabinets when there is a water leak from the sink. Thanks for sharing your journey. 😊
