Thanks for watching today's video, you guys! When I was editing this (Megan speaking) I felt like I came across as ungrateful and even a little snobby. One of the hard things about having a vlog is that you are filming your life as it happens. We were immensely stressed this day at the big purchase we had made and we wondered if we had paid too much or if we could make it into a home that would work for our family so I pessimistic and scared. It's been a few days and we've cleaned the house and feel a lot better about it. I promise I always work really hard to be authentic on these videos and sometimes that means I'm kinda crappy or at the very least I don't communicate my feelings very well.

.. thanks for clarifying... although in the end this is y'all's purchase..and y'all's house (to try to create the unique and 'perfect' home for all of YOU) i do believe that some viewers do not totally get that these blogs (although edited) are NOT scripted...and if a camera was to be peaking into "their" unedited unscripted daily lives...they may not be happy or 'proud' of what said camera would capture ... as always knorpp family looking for/and excited about this new leg on y'all's life adventure ☮️&🌱's

I've commented only a few times and I'm sure I've said this at least once, but seriously the partnership between you two is just so great. I love the way the two of you are architects of your life together and you're fine to rejig plans as detours arise. It's just awesome. And then the humour you share with one another it's so obvious how much you two talk and understand one another. So respectful of your differences and sincerely enjoying one another. Awesome to observe. Congratulations on the new journey ahead!

The house is charming and the backyard its beautiful! Great purchase you guys! We too are a large homeschooling family and just downsized to a much smaller house and yard. We had a large country home with acreage and wanted to give our kids a sense of community as well. We had been thinking about selling our property for awhile but fear kept us from doing it. But.....God had other plans and created a move out of necessity. So here we are in a little subdivision in a smaller house in a cute town with so much history for our kiddos to learn and enjoy! Looking forward to the renovation!

Since your family frequently has guests maybe you can have a small guest house in the yard not attached to the main house? I remember Andrew really wanted a secluded writing space so it could act as a writing space or office the rest of the time when you want a quiet space to do podcasts or livestreams etc.

35 years ago my sister and I bought a old farm house. My mother hated it. We bought it for the 200 yr old barn, We redid the whole house it is a 150 yrs old we added a whole addition bigger than the original, I raised my girls here on the farm. My youngest moved back home because she missed the horses, This little farm was the best move we ever made. ❤️

I love hearing from someone else who has lived in the country, considered homesteading, but in the end, realized they want their kids to have the social aspect of living in a little town. We've been out in the country for 10 years now, and just bought a house on the edge of a tiny town with an acre. We're still working on it, so we aren't living in it, yet. But, I think it will be a really great balance! Good luck on your reno!

Biggest mistake I ever made was going from a 990 sq ft, 2bd/1ba home to a 3600 sq ft, 4bd/3ba "dream" home as soon as I could afford it... Just because you CAN afford to buy something doesn't mean you SHOULD buy it. And there's something to be said for a cozy home with walls vs the big, open floor plans that are so popular these days. I really believe people can lose each other in spaces that are too big. I sure miss that little 990 sq ft house and all the happy, carefree, memories we made there. Lesson learned. Congrats on your new home Knorpps, it's perfect! -PJ

@Cynthiaa3155 жыл бұрын
Also the bottom of the stairs is also usually used as storage but maybe you can use it as part of a bookcase or as part of your restroom. It'll give you that extra space. My mom is a contractor is an overpopulated area and a common thing when looking at how spaces are used is, how can you use dead spaces like under a staircase. Well she finds that putting a toilet under a staircase is so effective because the down-grade of the stairs goes with a sitting position

One way to have a library/reading nook is to make it part of your staircase landing, or more properly, an area at the top of the stairs lined with shelves for books with enough room for a small table and a couple of chairs. It could also be situated at the bottom of, or under the stairs. Probably not explaining this well, but if you do a search for pics, you'll see what I mean. I wish you all the luck in the world getting this house where you want it to be. ~ Lisa
@SeniorWalkerwithChrist7775 жыл бұрын
How about having your stair case built as an add on to your house so you do not lose any floor space! You could surround it with windows to allow more light to flow into the upstairs and downstairs rooms. Maybe pop some indoor trees around the staircase that you can decorate for each season. Make sure that mud room is large enough to hold multiple wash/dryers and large enough to place a deep freezer and large pantry for food storage from the garden that you can plant on your property. This is a great location for you all. I will be praying for your family.

Congrats! I can’t wait to watch the progress! We have a home built in 1940 that we’ve added to, but is still 3 bedrooms for our family of 6 and some people have told us we need more. I don’t feel that way, we are living the lifestyle we want by being in an urban area and being a part of our community and our kids are growing up in a city and not in isolation. I wouldn’t trade our situation at all, we’ve lived here for 15 years and our kids know nothing else. You will have fun making it into exactly what suits your needs!!

If you built a set of stairs where that corner bedroom is now, you would probably have enough space to have a small room that could act as the library, with part of it tucking under the stairs.
