Our FULL REVIEW of Island Princess! The GOOD, the BAD and the UGLY!

We sailed on Island Princess for 16 nights visiting ports in the UK, Ireland, Iceland and Greenland. Island Princess is part of Princess Cruises' fleet and was launched in 2003. It belongs to the Coral-class of ships and has been a popular choice for travellers seeking a cruise experience with a balance of comfort and luxury. Princess Cruises, in general, is known for offering a range of amenities and services to make passengers' experiences enjoyable. The ship offers various entertainment options, including live performances, musicals, and themed events. Island Princess provides a variety of cabins and suites to cater to different preferences and budgets.
We are Tom and Dom and we experienced our first cruise on the MSC Virtuosa during her UK staycation cruises in 2021. We are relatively new to cruising, however we can now say we are officially hooked.
Our mission is provide a fair and balanced review of our travels. We look at the types of food that is available onboard, from main dining rooms, room service, buffets and pool side snacks. We include menus for each of cruises so that we can share the selection of drinks and meals that are available. Entertainment onboard a cruise ship is important to us and we enjoy theatre production shows, live music, quizzes and game shows. We love to explore different ports and destinations and enjoy sharing tips and tricks so that you can make the most of each port. We often explore ports independently but also book excursions that are interesting to us.

Sea days are great. I like to eat, play table tennis, play in the casino, watch shows. Is the onboard library good? Don't drink cocktails. Only have a glass of wine and usually with a meal. Karaoke could be good. Not really a bar person. Love food and eating. Dining rooms named for French places. Love sit down meals. Buffets have their place too. Sometimes go to one for a meal then throughout the day go to the buffett. My wife and I have enjoyed eating at the Crown Grill. Princess does make good pizza. Don't like cheese on my burgers. Did hit the like button.

We were on the very same cruise and felt the same about Island Princess, a lovely old girl. We’ve watched all the videos of the trip as it’s been like reliving it all over. And fun to see if we could spot ourselves anywhere. Trying Sky Princess next but I think we might miss the smaller ship ambience.

I am going on a 20 day Greece/Med cruise on Island Princess in Oct We have been on thiship a number of times before electronic devices so I am wondering what the plug situation is in our balcony cabin? Loved the video which reassured me that IP is still a great ship. Thanks.

Thanks for review. The ship looks nice. I love it but one thing I don't like is promanade deck where suites and balconys are. So guests can't walk around the ship. I would like to go on other ships. I like conservatory. It is good for Alaska or New England/ Canada cruise.

Just came off Enchanted Princess and Sabatini’s was hands down the worst. Service was chaotic, portions were small and cold by the time they reached us. We cancelled further reservations there and went elsewhere, including the buffet which was hot and frankly superior.

hi guys we are on the Island Princess next month. Were there many LGBT passengers on board and was it gay friendly? Can't help but notice that a lot of the passengers on your review were pretty mature!!

Hi, thanks for the question. Yes there were both LGBT passengers onboard as well as being very gay friendly. Passengers demographic was older on our cruise as it often is on longer cruises

@@TomandDomTravel ah yes I have met him twice...on Regal first then on Island...we had a wonderful cruise on both occasions...our entertainment team were Andi, kimmi, rose and mark...it looks like you might have had Jacinta who we met on our 2nd Regal cruise. I'm lucky enough to have 3 Sky and 1 Carribbean Princess booked so am hoping for the same great experience

With those premium desserts, is it just the sundaes that are the available premium desserts or are there other types of premium dessert available in other venues? I'm sure I've seen someone mention there are premium cakes and things available in some of the other restaurants but I can't find anything official from Princess other than the sundae menu. I'm going to have to cross them all off my to-do list :)

You can only get Icecream from Swirls but you can get premium cakes in the Main Dining Room. We have some examples on our vlogs. 🍰

Thanks. I've never sailed on Princess; your review does a great job of summarizing the experience. And it offers enough examples of the service and venues that the viewer can form his or her own opinion as well. Far be it from this American to suggest how to pronounce an English word, but here in the States "bayou" is pronounced "bye-ewe", not "bay-oh".
