I don't use TDS/PPM because most meter manufacturer does not indicate which conversion they are using. Most meter manufacturers in the hydroponics industry use one of two conversions. There is the 442 conversion (40% sodium sulfate, 40% sodium bicarbonate, and 20% sodium chloride) which some say is the closest thing to a hydroponic solution. The 442 conversion is approximately 700 x EC in milliSiemens (mS). Then there is the NaCl conversion (sodium chloride) which others say is the closest thing to a hydroponic solution. The NaCl conversion is approximately 500 x EC in milliSiemens (mS). Since you are growing lettuce, the recommended EC is between 0.8 - 1.2 milliSiemens/cm. Now if we try and convert it to TDS using the conversion factors mentioned above, it will be very confusing. Lettuce - 1.2 x 500 = 600 PPM using the EC x NaCl conversion Lettuce - 1.2 x 700 = 840 PPM using the EC x 442 conversion You can see where the confusion comes from because the same solution will read 600 ppm on one meter and it will read 840 ppm on the other. That is a difference of 240 ppm which as many of you know could be devastating. Both meters are functioning correctly they are just calculating the TDS using a different formula. So, if you do not calibrate your meter using the correct calibration solution your meter could give you a very inaccurate reading. The solution is simple, use EC. With EC, no conversion is required so all meters will read the same regardless of the manufacturer.

Lakay nagtry din ako ng 1600ppm at 7ph ok naman ang tanim ko na lettuce,pechay at kangkong.direct sowing from styrocup to growing box within 30days nakaharvest na ako

TDS po total dissolved solids in water, measure ito para maapproximate ang amount ng nutrients s solution nasa 1.5ml per liter para maattain yang ganyang 850 ppm.

hello sir possible ba na full strenght agad ang lettuce direct sowing po 8 days na sila from germination at ano po ang ph at ppm nang water with nutsol na ty po inagat

Opo sa akin po upon germination full strength n po 560-840ppm nasa 700+ usually gamit ko 6.0pH po, bottom feed lng po.

If you mean is ung growth nutrients n pangfoliar, ginagamit ko po sya 1 week after matransfer s system ung lettuce every other day. Then stop 2 weeks b4 harvest.
