Every holiday season we do what we call Christmas School! For us Christmas School normally consists of more relaxed, fun learning together as a family. Each year my plan changes a bit but for the most part Christmas School consists of the same basic things. Today, I am sharing all of the basics and the details for this years Christmas Schooling!

We do Christmas school as my kiddos call it. We’re doing a study on the first Christmas and adding in some writing, crafting, and games. I’m super interested in the cards they could color.

Last year we did an A Christmas Carol unit study for Christmas School. We were so blessed in the field trips we were able to take... a town near us does a Dickens Christmas each year with strolling carolers and living windows with scenes from the book. We also went to see an incredible production at Drury Lane Theater. And we did bell ringing for Salvation Army. That one was especially memorable as we sang carols to spread Christmas cheer (and keep our minds off of how truly cold it was!)

You inspired us to try Christmas School four or five years ago. It's been brilliant! This year, I put together a unit study based on the Elf movie. My son is 10, so this is probably the last year I'll have a child who believes in Santa Claus. I'm really going to dig in and enjoy it. We'll be studying Christmas in the North Pole, Christmas in New York City, Christmas songs, Rudolph and the history of claymation, Santa Post, and book publishing. I also picked up a pbl on TPT where he applied for a job as an elf, and has to remodel Santa's Workshop. Our chapter book read aloud is A Boy Called Christmas. I love when I plan a unit study and everything seems to fall into place!

We do St Nicholas and St Lucy every year because they are favourites here too. We read a book and put out shoes for st Nick and then make crowns for st Lucy and my daughter delivers breakfast to people in bed (usually jam and toast). Fun and easy.

I forgot to mention, for ME I got Mr Dickenson and his Christmas Carol on Kindle unlimited. And now I am loading up our library hold list with Christmas picture books while it is still a bit early and things are still available. My oldest starts HS next year but we have recently discovered how much we all still really LOVE picture books when we add them in. I am going to make it a priority in Dec❤

Love this plan! We are planning to do Christmas Carol Unit study (i now have 3 versions of the story to choose from), Junipers Christmas and Worst/Best Christmas Pageant. I added the advent carols and the minute mysteries books to cart. I dodnt realize there were other versions and my daughter has been enjoying the original version recently. Also added ancient Egypt version to go with her Ra The Mighty Book. We also got Santa's Cookies around the World to do this year and a Winter Stories anthology I just found at the library this morning. We don't usually do all out Christmas school, but I am going to try this year! 🎄🎄🎄

i heard that most of the play in the flintstone christmas carol is similar to the book, i love george c scott version.
