It took me many years to realize that the stuff I loved the best about our homeschool was distinctly CM, and the stuff we didn't love....wasn't. I will happily spend the rest of my life becoming more and more of a CM homeschool mama. :)

I love that painting behind you! Do you know the name of it so I can buy it?
@AmyElizSmith2 жыл бұрын
It's by Paul Cezanne, I believe it's Etang, 1877 -- it's of a river in France! I got at art dot com :)

As the publishers of CM-inspired curriculum for almost 30 years, we're always excited to see how others use the CM methods in their own homeschools. Thanks for sharing with us!

Curious how/where we would start with a 5th and 6th grader? Very interested in becoming a more CM homeschool! Thanks!

We love A Gentle Feast as well, and as you most likely know there are quite a few other ways to implement CM methods. I'm pretty sure there's info on AGF's website as to where to start.. Also, Julie Ross the creator of AGF is pretty great about answering any & all Q's via email.. agentlefeast.com/

Yes I'd also highly recommend A Gentle Feast!! It's all there for you! Julie does an amazing job explaining everything -- I truly think it's the best out there. You'd just need to pick your math -- there are many out there, I think Right Start is very sound and has a great leveling test!

I keep finding myself coming back to binge watch yet again. Seriously can not thank you enough for being here & for taking the time to share all of this. I'm beyond amazed that your vids came across my path, and seriously astounded how much we have in common. Though it isn't required.. Solidarity is truly a great encouragement & wonderful blessing when found! =)

those menu handouts are so cute! have you ever thought of handing out colored dry erase markers to your little ones to color them in just for fun?

Do you have any experience, or thoughts on if Gentle Feast will work for dyslexia? I'm really wanting to do the Charlotte Mason approach but I've been dealing with my struggling 8 year old and it's becoming very apparent that we're dealing with that. I've been wondering if mixing All about Reading and a charlotte mason approach would work, or make it worse.

Hi Candice! I recently added the Pathway Reading Book and Work book to my daughter's routine because she also needed something extra! I absolutely think you should add in whatever you think is necessary for success! Has your child been diagnosed? I've also heard great things about Logic of English!
@candicecutler7614 жыл бұрын
Amy Smith thanks! He has not been diagnosed. We’ve done testing for other things and I believe there is more going on, but he has so many of the links to dyslexia and Aspergers, so we took him out of school after this covid schooling and are going to try something completely different to see if it works because reading is SO hard for him

Candice, some children read much slower -- my seven year old daughter is just blossoming in reading now, and I'm glad I've let her take her time. In schools they push reading way too soon and I think this is a detriment to children because it puts way too much pressure on them way too soon. You may think about taking it easy for a month or so and just read a lot of books together!! Blessings!!

Do you find it difficult or annoying to switch over from the cd to mp3 tracks for the Play and Learn Spanish program? I have looked at it before and the reviews kept me from getting it. Thank you!
@AmyElizSmith4 жыл бұрын
No, I just use a little of everything. I have the Spanish on my phone so I can get to it easily!

I'm struggling to find a curriculum for Japanese in Charlotte mason style . My sons are wanting to learn Japanese since alot of their comics and Manga are all Japanese.

What a great question, I'm sorry I don't have any good answers for you! I hope you can find a great curriculum!

So with AGF would you only have to buy it once if all forms come in one manual?
@AmyElizSmith3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you only need to buy the teachers manuals once -- there are 4 cycles, they are each separate. Then each child would need a student notebook for language arts which is consumable!
