I was thinking the same thing as I was watching. I wonder how difficult it would be to install a solar powered fountain in the pond. Or possibly a water feature on the shore that passes pond water over rocks creating a small waterfall.

I could have continued watching this episode forever, it was so satisfying! Obviously a dock and a small boat first. Storm cellar next, then a swing swing/set for the kids, definitely need that, then a nice big vegetable garden and fruit orchard. Love the peach trees-you need some more fruit options! Some more flowers, a whole barbecue pit, outdoor seating area. Maybe something with protective nets, like a solarium or indoor porch? A tree house for the kids. And finally, a pool maybe? Somewhere to swim in those hot summers without any snakes! I know the garage/barn needs work too. I can’t wait to see it all!

Mackenzie your support and endurance through this entire process plus birthing 2 babies along the way shows we women folk can hang with the best and Spencer's one of the best. Now you all can focus on the rest of your property and cleaning up around the pond made it look so neat. It will keep those snakes down a bit. Spencer, I love your new tractor and it's cabin. When you are cutting downhill with your brush hog, you should always have the bucket on the front of your tractor for balance. I usually scoop up some dirt with the bucket to keep it front heavy. A tractor can flip over backwards in a split second backing down steep grades without proper balance so be careful

@@jt1364 You'd be shocked at how quickly that vegetation returns to those pond edges. There's plenty of natural habitat in the surrounding area. It will allow the larger animals better access to a water source during the dought. Believe me, I had a small lake behind my house. We regularly scalped the shore edges. Made mowing safer and it became a favorite watering hole for other species. Didn't take long for it to overgrow again. We had to go after it 2 or 3 times a year. Also - they have small children and it makes seeing the snakes a lot easier. But I understand your concerns.

A suggestion for your replacement dock. Make it a floating dock out of 6 or 8 plastic barrels. Maybe see how much it would cost to get the barrels filled with open cell foam insulation in case any of them spring a leak. Getting all of the undergrowth cleared from the pond edge REALLY opens up the view, with the added benefit of _removing_ snake habitat. Sorry, but with Beau motivating around on her own, Cam will be fairly soon AND the dogs, getting rid of venomous snakes close to the house should be a fairly high priority.

I have said from the beginning that you guys have some of the best edited videos that I have seen and I love, love, love the music that you use. It gives a certain sense of nostalgia. Well done! Keep them coming and give us a final house tour if you can. All the best.

It all looks great, just get a little nervous that Spencer leaves the tractor running when he's climbing around on it!! Chipper works great. Nice job as always. Sorry that we won't be able to watch you putting together your beautiful home any long, it's done!! Beautiful job, thanks for taking us along with you for all of it. You guys are the best! Love the kids playing with the tractor steering wheel, they're both so happy. Have a great weekend. (from Sandi)

I was thinking exactly the same thing about the tractor running, nearly half of farm accidents here in ireland involve tractors .

The pond looks so much better. The chipper was a great idea. I'm so glad you're finding more projects to do. Have you considered a floating dock using 55 gallon plastic barrels?

Here in Canada you can buy floating docks ,also you can buy water circulation systems for ponds . This would be great for the kids and their set up.

I live in a pretty industrial area in not a big city but a city nonetheless and the way he spoke about the wood chipper made me want to go buy a wood chipper, this is the only reason I even consider any sort of social media a good thing but it’s so amazing how interested you can be in so many things if you just open your mind and listen and learn about anything you possibly can. You never know what’s out there unless you try 💖

A suggestion about wood chips. It takes nitrogen out of the soil to decompose chips if you just spread them. It’s better to pile them up and let them cook for several months, and even kick start them by adding nitrogen fertilizer and green grass clippings. Otherwise you are creating a net loss of nitrogen if you just spread them. This after several years keeping the jungle at bay on Kauai. We had several tree services delivering truck loads from their exploits, which we turned into black gold in short order with the heat and humidity Kauai has in abundance, as you have in summer. We would turn it regularly uncovering steaming pockets. It rained daily so we didn’t worry, but I imagine in your case it would have to be watched. Oh the snakes would flock to your piles, especially in winter, one downside, but you could use that to your advantage by locating far from Human activity.

Good point about leaching nitrogen from the soil. Grass clippings, as you say, will help. Cultivating clover (not woodsorrel/shamrock [oxalis stricta] but white clover [trifolium repens]) fixes nitrogen into the soil, is immune to dog urine, helps pollinators, etc. So figuring out where nitrogen is important and where it is not is a good step in the planning process.
