You should definitely do these RP style series more often. You are clearly enjoying them, and if you are getting that much more content out of them you will get much more bang for your buck. Also, while I usually prefer your from the depths videos, the deep dive and RP of this Stellaris playthrough is probably one of my favorite things you've done on your channel recently. I mean, if 40 hours of gameplay leads to 30 hours of content rather than 3, and the 30 hours are more enjoyable for both you and your audience, then this defiantly seems to be a better video format than most of your recent Stellaris videos. I can't wait to see more of this playthrough, and I dearly hope Squarf survives whatever horrible plotline is about to unfold. Also, minor suggestion, if you want to do this sort of empire again, why not turn down AI aggressiveness a bit? It seems like a slightly less aggressive AI would do well with this sort of empire and RP.

I think you should name the bastion "The Anvil", since just like an anvil, it is made with the sole purpose of taking horrendous amounts of aggression without showing any sign of damage, and upon it the enemy shall hit itself unto until either it breaks, or *they* break.

I think you can fire the leader with arrested development. This empire might be nice, but it wants to be strong so I don’t think they would keep someone in a governing role if they clearly aren’t the best the person for the job. They can get another job, maybe they will grow into their new role better than being a governor.

I have an idea for the honorbound. they should take synthetic ascension, here's why. The honorbound are guardians of their galaxy, as you said, "the good guys" they are dedicated to their cause of galactic peace and prosperity. The truly dedicated bring great things to their people and the galaxy, but have finite lifespans so they may not continue their dream. So they may choose to sacrifice their flesh and cast off the burdens of mortality to become ever-vigilant, to ensure the galaxy is safe from all harm, and to stand guard, so that millenia from now new empires rise from the ashes of the old ones, greeted by the ghosts of galactic past in the forms of the honorbound mechanisms and justice, ensuring peace eternal.

Except I'd say the negative example of the Cybrex the Honour Bound have researched would make them very leary of synthetic conversion. Not to mention the moral ambiguity of forcibly converting their empires population.

When I'm doing a lot of Stellaris RP I also like to rename my fleets after their Admiral or major victories. Like Admiral's Brothers in Arms, Admiral's Armada, Wardogs of Homesystem, Conquerors of Planetname, Defenders of Systemname, Bane of Racename. Things like that.

So I've gotten far enough to see you finish the Shoulders of Giants storyline, and I am surprised there is a branch involved. You got to be the wards, but when I was doing this storyline I ended up being the Relentless, reduced to mindlessness to defeat us. A standard sci fi trope, a few episodes of various Star Trek series come to mind. Needless to say, we are now restarting what our ancestors were prevented from doing: conquering the galaxy by force.

The captalists next door are really your opposite because they have private militaries and mercanaries whilst you use community as your troops. I think having them as a main "antaganist" of sorts, would work well. Having them be a enemy your people strive to be better than, the thing that makes hesitant soldiers join the frey. Although still holding respect for them as warriors, seeing them as greedy unhonarable people willing to hurt and do anything to get what they want. Whilst you are only willing to hurt if its to protect those who cannot protect themselves. P.S: I think the empire thats a vassal would be fine to you as an empire because youd see it as them just protecting a people who cannot protect themselves and your empire would probably vassalise some other empires but only if the empire wants to be a vassal.

Naming Ideas: Ships: Libertate Serviens (liberty servants/soldiers) Martyrum de Infirma (Martyrs of the weak) Promethean Bellatores (promethean warriors, I thought this would be fitting because Prometheus essentially signed himself up for torture when he gave humankind fire and allowed them to prosper) Planets: Utopia (obvious name, a planet where everyone is prospering) Terra Reforged (a planet where people are reforged into warriors of the Honourbound) Fólkvangr (where half of those who die in combat go in Norse mythology, means “army field”) Kyzaghan’s Fortress (good name for a fortress world or a bastion, Kyzaghan was the Turkic deity of war.)

Life is a very interesting subject, I believe we may never find a fitting definition, scientists are looking in places where earth lifeforms could survive, but they forget that life could theoretically form anywhere, they could use a different solvent than water, they could breathe a different gas, they could be anything. My favorite phrase is “as the pool of knowledge increases, so too does the horizon of ignorance” (im sure you all know what that means). Also fun fact, the only thing that moves faster than light is, space itself (light can not go where space does not already exist. [also the universe is expanding faster than light, soo] ). Enjoyed the video.
