21:20 usually your fleets now have 1 sensor strenght so you can enter unknown systems, but there you were in a nebula, in which you should have a science ship with your fleets, to scout the way.

Yep, it's a shame. 2.8 fixed some annoyances with enlightened primitives for me, but larger fixes like spinning off non-corp Megacorp vassals or the AI doing the Crime Lord deal and gaining benefit from NOT clamping down don't appear to attract any budget.

Not sure if you noticed, or if I missed it when you went over it, but you can now select which endgame crisis will spawn in the game, if you so choose. If you have a craving for a specific crisis

I love the new changes to the game, I always thought it was a little weird that encountering the fringe of an empire would introduce you to every system in their space, from the most important forge worlds to the most barren of systems.

I enjoyed the suspense and smoother economy management. Secondly it's great that you can use the time after first contact starts to convert an alloy stockpile into the latest ships. In the past even pacifists considered vassalising you, if you were caught without. It helps tech up faster, if you're not wasting energy and alloys on building unusable ships but doing science instead.

Lath I have been playing a good deal of From the Depths lately and have come up with a really interesting concept, a flying glass cannon roughly speaking I'm talking an helicopter a bit like you're cornflakes from some time ago, BUT with a 500mm railgun shooting an 8 meter armor piercing high explosive HEAT round, I give this to you as a challenge. Rules: Not more then 90k materials cost. Not more then 2 meter thick armor NO Heavy armor. I'll give you a volume limit of 4000 as I'm in a good mood. and last but not least the 500MM railgun it don't matter what type of ammo you use. That's it good luck and I love your videos they always make my day when I'm having a hard time with depression

21:15 The military ships always acted like that, the difference is you used to get sensor data once you established contact. It gives an indirect buff to sensor upgrades especially if you actively destroy enemy science ships before they get deep into your territory.

At 21:05, you couldn't advance further because you were in a nebula. The default sensor range of outposts was increased by one to facilitate conquest into uncharted space under normal circumstances, but that nebula was in the best possible spot to leave you blind and unable to make that early push.

As an addendum, I think the new Crisis perk needs a better name. The current one lacks flair, and is too matter-of-fact about what it does. My pitch is "Horrific Apotheosis."

I wanted to comment that a scientist asset should be able to help with stealing technology because covert missions have two traits and for stealing technology one of them is science. But it looks like Lath figured it out himself at the end.

if you are going to be playing more crime syndicates you might want to try the Underground Realms mod, which SIGNIFICANTLY buffs criminal heritage by giving you far more crime related events (needs an edict) and also Shroud related events including a unique Crisis End.

Lathland: the is two way of starbase mining; astroid mining and nebula mining. AM give you Materials and NM give you Energy. Hope this help.

I guess the spy system update is most likely to have a lasting effect and meaning in multiplayer. At this stage most of the longterm players i guess have developed a feeling for how far an AI faction has developed at certain stages in the game.

The question is, is nihilistic acquisition and barbaric despoilers more or less powerful than it used to be (fun, good for keeping an empire alive but not having to worry about them being a threat, like ever again, but not really *that* powerful) now that each individual pop is worth more in terms of planetary resources early on but by the end game, probably a little less important given that space resources are supposed to be more important now that they've cut the amount of overall pops in the game.

The new update is odd I’m used to investing into pop growth because i know I’ll need the building slots but now I’m being swamped with pops and dealing with a lot of unemployment Edit I also like the new mechanics with the alloys and consumer goods since before I would always struggle with them and my economy would die and wasn’t able to be repaired because of it but now I have like +200 consumer goods and am having a little trouble with the raw resources also Kathrin don’t get your hopes too high for the menacing ship sets as it’s just a reused asset but I won’t say of which
