Olive oil was on special offer a couple of weeks ago for $9.99 a bottle, somewhat smaller than you have there. Beef was a good price for the Memorial Day holiday. I bought a large chuck roast for $17 and cut it up into three quite small roasts suitable for feeding two people several meals.

Great bargains! Love a good shopping show and tell:) I just did my full monthly shop for June and bar some fresh veggies, salad and fruit I spent £152.80 or 179.50Euros, 194.75 US$, 316.86 NZ$, 292.67 AUS$. I previously topped up the freezer with meat deals to last for quite a few more months yet so didn't need to get any this month and my pantry is as full as I need it to be so nothing goes out of date before I can get to it. My cleaning and personal items I have at least a years supply of everything, personal items are due to lovely gifts from Christmas and my recent birthday. Keep shopping those deals everyone, it can be done, saves a fortune and keeps it in your account and not the supermarkets.

Your prices seem similar to those here in the US. Many of our major retailers, Target, Wal-Mart, have started to roll back some prices. They have gouged the consumer so bad people have stopped buying. So , they are trying to act like they are doing us a favor. As always, I enjoyed the shopping haul. It is so interesting to see how people live and save money in other parts of the world. Thank you for sharing.

Yep, Aldi is doing it now also. The stores ignorance is the cause for all of this. Walmart marked down some prices, got people into the stores only to raise the basic food prices. So, pizza's were on sale however, a can of veggies went up a quarter, Cokes and sodas and cereal are cheaper but real food prices went up. All the foods that were ingredients went up, while trash food prices went lower. Can veggies are supposed to go up again in August, so stock up your pantry now.

@@cathyeller5722 I have noticed the same thing at Aldi where I do most of our shopping. Aldi made a big deal about lowering prices on more than 200 items for summer, but the only markdowns I saw this week are on prepared items not on produce, dairy, and ingredients. I was not impressed. The produce sales aren't very good any longer either. Sale prices are higher than the regular price was a couple of years ago. Very disappointing.

We live close to kalamata in Greece, famous for its wonderful eating olives and oil, a litre of average oil is around €13 or for gorgeous bright green first press around €20 a litre when it’s in season. All the other prices are all very similar to yours Jane. My veg patch is now supplying us with enough produce for a decent salad everyday, although street market seasonal veg is reasonably priced. Do you and Mike have a weekly market near you or are supermarket prices cheaper? Thanks for your videos, I get some great ideas from you guys. Golly gluten-free bread is cheap in your area. I pay upwards of $9 for a loaf here in Portland, Oregon. Even local gluten-free bakery's breads at $8.50. Eek! Fred Meyer (owned by Kroger) sometimes has good deals and coupons. But they do tend to raise the base price so it seems like the sale price is good, but if you know that product well, you'll see the "sale" price is what the product normally would cost. It's such a scam. And shrinkflation is truly a thing. Ugh.

Oooo,Super haul! Colorful and variety again.I am so happy to watch this and I specifically really like when you say " I tried this or their own brand vs the other option and then you say your opinion. Super helpful. I get to see from you what are you getting and soon when I have the possibility to enter that shop,I know I would be quite prepare. So thanks for that. Well, to answer your question,in my opinion the prices are great. The discount on veggies is a hit. Olive oil...but it's always more expensive if the quality is good. Still very good price Something I think is expensive is 10 slices of ham for almost 5 euro,if I am not wrong. Maybe because I don't really consume processed meats, salami or I don't know really. But I know they love their ham and perhaps that's the price for it or even more. No idea. I don't consume alcohol,so non-alcoholic wines are the way to enjoy. Yes,they are not cheap and as you said, depends on the brand can be even more expensive than regular ones. I think it's fair, because of the efforts in removing the alcohol and some of them are also without sulfites and pure, without added grape juice in it. Then to me,it's worth to pay such treat for myself. It's like appreciation for the patent and work they have done,so people not really into alcohol can enjoy too. This is just my own way of thinking. I can already imagine you there on a beautiful evening, outdoors, nature sound, you two and chilled wine. Serenity! Great haul and great products👍🥳👏

I buy EVOO at a warehouse club and it's $20+ for a 3 liter bottle (depending on the coupon). I recently paid $14 for 4 free-range chicken breasts at Aldi. My husband eats chicken and you have to be careful of the quality here in the US. Meat is very expensive. I don't eat it so have to pay more for good quality for him. Hi Jane and MIke -it is Izzy, the Canadian living in Portugal. I enjoyed you video very much.. Here in Portugal, the area where I live, the canned vegetables are much more expensive than there in Britany, France. Milk hear is about 1 euro. And we just got our inflation rate for the month of May and it has gone up to 3.1.... The Minimum wage here went up in January to 820 euros... but the government that just left in March raised some police salaries by 600 euros.. The present government is going to raise other police, nurses, doctor´s and teachers soon, by a significant amount. This is going to cause the inflation here to sky rocket again this year. Minimum wage is really low here, but other costs aren´t. So we are on a vicious circle.

Your butter is still more expensive than ours here in NZ although the price has started to creep up again here. We still haven't felt the full effect of the olive oil price rise here yet either, ours is still a wee bit cheaper but I buy it in a 3 litre tin as that is definitely the much cheaper way to buy it here and then have a smaller bottle that I top up for using

Good shopping haul with lots of variety for fixing meals.🍱 Australia 2 major supermarkets are having a lot of negative publicity due to blocking competition and therefore setting prices, so we need to stop around. Aldi does provide a popular alternative and is fairly good. I regularly check out a fresh produce outlet which is often much cheaper for root vegetables etc. Recently I took a trip and my own food, eating out has become very expensive, so had a stock up on my return😊 Thank you Jane, Mike and the doggies for the great video. 👍🇦🇺

I bought last week the olive oil cold pressed of the organic brand from netto. It is 750 ml for € 9,99 here in germany. It was very good tested last year. I always buy it on sale or with a coupon, last week 15 %. I don't know if you get it in france.

I'm off to SuperU tomorrow, will look out for the avocados, they look great, I agree it is one of the nicer places to shop; you've done well with your loyalty points! I make vegan mayo (I'm not vegan but eat lots of things that are) with soya milk, cold pressed rapeseed oil, a spoonful of cider vinegar and a teaspoon of ground flaxseed, mustard, a dash of maple syrup and black salt if you can get it (you usually can't in France). Might not sound very promising but I prefer it now to the eggy stuff, it's easy to make and keeps well and I've always got the means to make it. Many sweet potatoes are grown in France now, in the Loire valley, or sometimes even on the bio farm up the road from here, but I guess it's not the season.

@@FrugalQueeninFrance That's my version, most of those are optional, the essentials are soya milk, vinegar and any decent oil (the rapeseed has a mustardy taste and eggy colour, a drop of olive is good but too much is too strong IMO). The mustard and flaxseed help with emulsifying but aren't essential. Plenty recipes on-line!

In regards to your canned potatoes, what do you make with it for a quick meal? What a good idea to have those sorts of things on hand to make it possible to have a "flash meal" and thus stick to a budget when you are tired or worn out ir under the weather! I wouldd love to see some of your ideas for nights like those!

U.S. here. Drain the canned potatoes and canned green beans (set aside). In a pot saute some diced polish sausage and onions (opt). When your meat is the way you like it, add the potatoes and green beans. Heat it through, but don't over stir, it will get too mushy. Serve warm. Season with black pepper if desired. Fast, easy and good.

Wish I could spend as little as you do ... our prices are on the rise again ! The stores advertise new price reductions but increase other prices to make up the differences. Even though I shop the sales and stock up on bargains when I can , my bill continues to rise even at Aldi ! Our horrendous political situation does not help our economy ... no one trusts the current administration because they tell us everything is fine ... inflation is ending LOL ! Meanwhile all of our costs continue to increase! Don't know how this will end but the situation here is becoming very volatile ... it is very ugly ! I’m in New Zealand. How I would love to experience these cheap prices. You’d think, in a country that produces quality food ( enough for 40 million people, with a population of only 5 million) that we could get cheaper prices for our supermarket shop. There’s just no competition here. Everything has gone up and keeps going up. Most of our produce is exported, and have to pay the export price….
