This is a story about St. Meinrad, a Benedictine Monk who lived around 800 AD. He was a hermit, but he followed the Rule of Benedict concerning hospitality to strangers. After his death, a monastery was established at his hermit home, and, in a vision by Bishop Konrad, the chapel there was dedicated by Jesus Himself in the presence of his mother. Today the Monastery of Einsiedeln is very large, and it houses the "Black Madonna of Einsiedeln."
