I was living a life of dissipation, addicted to various drugs including heroin, but my mother gave me the brown scapular one day after mass and it completely changed my life. The website of the Sisters of Carmel say a few things differently, namely that there IS 1st Saturday Sabbatine privilege and that the only requirements to receive the primary promise (avoidance of hell) is to wear the scapular continuously, be invested by a priest and have the right wool/color specifications for the scapular. I don't know who to believe here..the Carmel website or this holy priest. By the way, I was just invested today by a priest (yay!) and just found out I also received a plenary indulgence to boot since the priest also gave me communion and confession. The Carmelites are correct. It is common for people to be confused about this matter, even holy Priests. The extra obligations are necessary to receive the privilege of Our Lady's help in Purgatory. But to obtain salvation from eternal fire, only wearing it is necessary: that is my understanding of it anyway.

I liked the part when Elijah cut the throats of the prophets of Baal and didn't apologize for it. Just like when Moses put that Egyptian taskmaster down.
