I think the draw of the quick service dining plan also assumes that you’re eating at least 1 (if not 2 honestly) meals in the parks. I would agree its 100% not worth it for a staycation/resort stay only vibe, but if your plan is to grab a coffee in the morning then head to the parks for the day - you’ll be okay with it no matter what your resort is!

Just a piece of advice if anyone else finds themselves in a similar situation with breakfast ending soon....put in a mobile order! That way, even if you arrive past 11, the food will be waiting for you!

I loved doing the resort stays with my son when we used to live in clermont, FL. We would just go for 2 nights and only did the resort. So your videos brings back good memories. I moved back to NJ in 2012 and don't get to go to Disney that often. Miss it so much and the warmth of florida. Thanks for all you do

I heard years ago that those surrey bikes are hard to pedal and give your legs a workout. Also the siding they are replacing was one of my favorite visuals of the Boardwalk. That’s the DVC side and it used to say Crest O’ The Wave. Was really beautiful.

Lol! The Surrey bike! Many many years ago! My family of 5 did the Surrey at the Boardwalk…. What a work out for Mom & Dad, our boys were very young, it was probably 18 years ago at least. You do need to stay at the Yacht Club! It doesn’t count if you don’t! Loved this video and my almost 2 year old LOVED watching Jackson going down the water slide! He kept making me rewind it and every time would copy Tim and say “Hi Jackson!” Thanks for the video and thanks for wishing our friend Wade a happy birthday - we saw that video on his Facebook post!

Staying at the Boardwalk puts you in close proximity and walking distance of two parks, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, as well as the Skyliner. The DVC Villas are much nicer than the room you stayed in.

Boardwalk hotel is our favorite. Can walk to two parks, great dining, DVC rooms are very good, and can get to more food and fun at Yacht and Beach. Plus boardwalk itself, a new bakery, and good shopping. Doesn’t get much better.

My family & I rode the Surrey Bikes last year on mother's day at Disney. They were waaaaaay more exhausting than I thought they'd be, even with 4 people pedaling. Also, too bad I missed you by one year! I would have been so excited if I could have met you guys. Happy mother's day, Jenn!

Of course, you have to stay at the Yacht Club to check it off your list! I was feeling Tim's pain on that surrey bike. We told our youngest when she learned how to ride a two wheel bike we would rent a surrey bike...and that 30 minutes was long enough...I can't imagine an hour! Thanks for sharing your staycation with us. Looks like great memories were made!

We stayed at the Boardwalk in the same area. Had the same troubles with the up down up to get out to the Boardwalk area. Also we struggled with quick service meals n coffee too! Agreed the pool and slide were a big hit with the kids.

Even thought the yacht club & beach club are connected, I think of them as 2 separate resorts - especially because it’s a different vibe (at least to me). I spy some new Tracker merch! Can’t wait to see it and get some!

Just a thought. Most people who stay at the Boardwalk will be going to the parks, so it would probably be ok for them to get the quick service dining plan because they wouldn’t just be eating at the hotel. However, Jen, you are right about not getting the quick service if you just were hanging out at the hotel. I really wanted to see what pop century had to offer. I think the value resorts have a lot more options and the food is fresher because of the turnaround. Do a staycation again at one of the value resorts with the dining plan.

The honeymoon suite is awesome and we did the meal plan the whole trip was the best ever we ate in Mexico and the Italian restaurant on boardwalk

We are big Beach Club fans, but breakfast and quick serve options are definitely limited. That's why we pack instant oatmeal packets (just add hot water), little boxes of cereal, and individually wrapped muffins or pastries, even skinny bagels.

Staying at Boardwalk for first time in October. Our usual go to’s are beach and yacht, they are my favorite resorts. Staying at Evermore Resort for a few nights looking forward to that then moving over Disney to the Boardwalk. Cannot wait!

Quick service in the Boardwalk/Beach/Yacht area is hard. But table service breakfast is so yummy there - Trattoria al Forno, Ale &Compass and Cape May are all excellent! We went over to the bakery in France for quick service breakfast when we stayed at Boardwalk last year. But definitely hard with kids in that area for quick service.

Boardwalk is our favorite resort for the past 20 some odd years. The proximity to 2 Parks especially World Showcase is EVERYTHING! We have stayed on Club Level many times and also Boardwalk & Garden facing Balcony rooms. The quiet pool has been a favorite when the kids were small and we didn’t want the crowds of the big pool. Unfortunately your room was in the boondocks so to speak. Sadly the renovations they are making…imho are a negative. There was a warmth and truly that old time feel of turn of the century small hotel before the changes to modernize. The Bellevue Lounge now looks uninviting. The rooms are cold and echoing without carpet. The inn keepers lounge looks like a diner now… eliminating the feel of a drawing room with comfy amenities. Also…Unlike Yacht & Beach Club the lobby at Boardwalk was not congested & crazy because the restaurants & nightime activities are outside. Lack of restaurants now a negative. ESPN is a loss for dads/families wanting to watch games inside or out and a good burger or bar food. Hoping the closed River Grill reopens with something inviting. Change is good but not when you lose the charm and original intent of this beautiful hotel.

Powering a surrey bike is no joke. At 5’3”, I had to sit at the very edge of the seat to peddle so hubby had to do a lot of the work and I still was worn out! Good memories though 😀

I think the dining plan at the Boardwalk would work great if you were also visiting EPCOT. Options galore there. Our reasoning for staying at the boardwalk was to be in walking distance to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios and that made it perfect. We hardly had a chance to enjoy the actual resort amenities, next time we stay at a Disney resort we will plan a day off from parks.

I have used the quick service dining plan when staying at the Boardwalk. My breakfast was a snack credit muffin and coffee then I’d use my quick service meals at the park. Worked well for me as an adult traveling with another adult. I have a question were the boats not running? I would have opted to take the boat back in the rain. I would have thought the boys would have enjoyed the ride.

When we had the QSDP we used to use he ability to trade in a meal token for 3 snack tokens. As we are a cereal family we would get 2 bowls of cereal with milk and get one regular and one chocolate (one milk does two bowls) and then 2 more snacks. Mainly because we didn’t use up too many meal tokens usually.

I think for the quick service plan, most people will use it all in the parks so the resort food doesn't matter too much, except maybe breakfast. Also I stayed at the Yacht Club last summer it was great! I was going to count Beach club too but now I may stay there anyway so 🤷‍♀️

Biggest bang for quick serve is at the better locations in the parks - or for breakfast at the resort. Maybe one dinner or lunch at the resorts. Else - meh.

We used the QS dining plan at AKL ans SSR, we stayed 2 weeks in total and thought it was brilliant! We had 2 rooms but only added it to the 1 room with 2 ad and 2ch in and split that between 6 of us and we only ran out of meal credits on our second to last day. We had 2 TS meals we paid for and ate at Old town once during the trip xx
