Gabie you will be soooo happy when that kitchen renovation is done!! No heat, no dishwasher, half an oven/stove working and crumbling counters is an awful place to cook, especially with how much you cook! It will be worth the time and hassle while it's renovated. I wondered about all the cutting boards, but figured you either liked collecting them or you just kept getting them as gifts. XD

this summer we had several plumbing big issues that caused us so much stress and anxiety, but i kept reminding myself that it's part of having a house and now hearing your kitchen renovation story just reinforced the concept of "homeowners means renovations/house issues". This meal looked extra yummy knowing it's the last one in this kitchen♡ can't wait to see the new kitchen counter look!

As a Canadian, I can say that BBQ season doesn't have to end when the summer ends. In some ways it's nicer to BBQ when it's cooler, because it's much more pleasant to be near it. And if you're sat in the sun somewhere that's shaded from the wind, it can be quite lovely to eat outside too, just put on a sweater. The air is crisp and clear, and you can smell the leaves, which is one of my favourite scents. 😊🧡

Haha I'm in MN, and it's the same here! There's really no such thing as a BBQ "season"... more so for if you're doing outdoor parties/ going to grill at a park. When it's not nice out, we still grill and then just eat inside!

I promise you, having a new kitchen will feel great! I recently got a new one (for free as it is part of the flat renovation including new plumbing, ventilation etc) and I got to choose the colours of the new cabinets and flooring) and I can't be happier even if it's not really that fancy compared to your options. And I got an induction range and I love it! I hope you'll feel quite happy and satisfied once it is all done.

In floor heating always clogs up and stops working, and then you have to rip up the whole floor. This has been known for at least 50 years, and yet people keep doing it, who knows why. Anyhow, nice family gathering, and delicious looking food as always.

Gabie, if you want to keep the concrete work top, without destroying it. I suggest you buying marble slab or granite tile with large dimension, there's 120x240 cm wide. I reckon it's enough to cover the work space for handling flour etc. And for other work top, just replace them with pvc granite sheet. While it's durable but not for knife work.

Induction is very convenient for me because it's quite windy where I live. No more worrying that the fire will go out 😂 We also used Dekton for our countertops. Heat and stain resistance for the win!
