KHON KAEN, THAILAND (ขอนแก่น) - Khon Kaen is a major city in the Isan northeastern region of Thailand. Today we’re going on a crazy spicy street food tour of Khon Kaen where ‪@JoelsTastyRide‬ and I will be eating at a legendary beef restaurant, followed by insanely spicy green papaya salad, and a comforting bowl of noodles. Let’s get started eating amazing Thai street food.
Prasit Pochana ประสิทธิ์โภชนา (goo.gl/maps/a3...) Total price - 950 THB ($28.73) - The first place we went is Prasit Pochana (ประสิทธิ์โภชนา), a legendary meat, especially Isan beef restaurant. They specialize in dishes like Thai crying tiger beef, and jaew hon, an Isan style hot pot. It’s an amazing restaurant, one of the best in Khon Kaen especially if you love meat.
Som Tam Parinya ส้มตำปริญญา (goo.gl/maps/oE...) Total price - 380 THB (11.51) - Next up on this Khon Kaen street food tour we headed over to one of Joel’s favorite places to eat Isan / Lao papaya salad, known as the University degree papaya salad - Som Tam Parinya ส้มตำปริญญา. Their pla ra, fermented fish sauce is a true highlight here. And they pounded us up some insanely spicy combinations.
Jay Hong เจ๊หงส์ โจ๊ก จั๊บ ต้มเส้น (goo.gl/maps/w6...) Price - about 40 THB per bowl ($1.21) - After a crazy amount of chilies for lunch we decided to eat something a little calm and comforting for dinner - noodles.

Esan or Northeastern Thai cuisine is absolutely delicious and my all time favorite in the whole wide world. Love love the fresh flavors, hot and sour favors, and one of favorites is the bitter flavor. I have had all of those dishes in the video and my mouth is watering wildly now.

I really wanted to try Thai food because of mark always featuring Thailand and it's food. However , I feel like I cannot handle the spice , it is too much for me. So many chillies , it looks appetizing .

Many of thai people can't eat as much as Mark Wiens. And the restaurants they can do just one chilli. You can order non spicy or less spicy. And If you've already eaten it and it's spicy just eat some rice it can protect your stomach from the heat of chillies. Eating plain white rice does help. 🍚🥢👍

I’ve been to the first restaurant...the raw beef is outstanding just as Mark reported but even better, the man in front grilled duck sausage which I have never heard of. Oh my lord, it was one of the most succulent meat items to grace my mouth! Wish I could find something similar in the USA. When Mark paused to take a breath while eating the papaya chillies salad I know that face well, I had a similar salad in Koen Kean that was so spicy it gave me heart burn and I love very spicy foods.

I've had 20 peppers on a papaya salad. The whole salad was loaded with peppers.🌶️It was the most peppers I had in a papaya salad. The papaya salad sauce was flavorful, but the salad was super spicy.
