Our Last Lap at Blackpool Pleasure Beach 2024

I visited Blackpool a few days ago for 2 nights and I couldn’t resist a day in the pleasure beach I absolutely love the big one. It’s the main reason why I always go pleasure beach over any other park in the UK it’s so good to say I’m not the only one who really loves this ride. Hopefully one day I get to meet you at the Pleasure beach since I’m planning to be visiting a lot more now I’m coming on the final day in November and possibly opening day in March loved the video keep it up ❤

Absolutely love this! Had some amazing and not so amazing rides on Big One amd so happy you experienced such a good ride! Non rider pass a great idea. Open access would be a disaster these days and was terrifying back in the day as seen the 90s BPB documentary!

Great vlog and no issues with the filming. We were there Thursday and it was running unbelievable the speed after the turnaround was where we noticed it most it flew back so fast that when it hit the final break they had to do an electrical reset while we waited as it had come in over the speed setting they do on a morning. The operations were unbelievable too it must be really pressured to have only one train now until the end of the season but they were really pushing them it out just like the old days when they had Keith and JR on their backs. Last visit 30 November for us can't wait to get a final go with how it is running.

Your comments on the big one vs Hyperia were interesting. I enjoy hyperia and there are some incredible elements on it, however I still think the big one is an equally incredible ride and the first drop is just insane. Hyperia has impressed me but the Big one hasn’t been beaten in my opinion

Yes I totally agree with you about the Big One. The slow queue one train service was driving me nuts and my friend that was with me hates the drop and she was trying to get me to do Icon instead. But I got my way and got on it near 5pm and great googly moogly it was the best uk coaster ride I’ve had this year and the best I’ve had on the Big One. I can’t believe how fast it went round the turn around. It was raucous and we were on a wheel seat but it doesn’t bother me, I like a bit of grit in my coaster. My friend wasn’t convinced and we managed to get on icon anyway. I got 4 goes on Hyperia at the beginning of October. Great to finally get another biiiiig coaster here and I hope its popularity means that it will trigger more, but it didn’t sit right with me. I enjoyed it, but it never got going and just felt disjointed like various big elements were just randomly stuck together and then it just stopped. Maybe I need to warm into it, will try again next year.

I am hoping they do the day version. I mean even if 20 people buy it, they need to support them for a year, i.e the scanners etc. So logically adding a non rider day ticket shouldn't be much extra work. And then hopefully they can assess how many non riders visit throughout a whole season 🤞 Given they've added the hand held scanners they're clearly not going anywhere and when everyone has a rider ticket they are pointless

Definitely a move in the right direction, think they should extend the period until the end of the year though. As much as I like the Big One the rides I've had on Hyperia have been off the scale especially in the dark.

Great video as always. The non-rider pass is a brilliant idea. Pre-pandemic I would only buy the £6 non-rider pass as I preferred that to paying for a wristband. I just liked to walk around and see people enjoying themselves. However, as you’ve rightly pointed out, unless it is supported by the very people who’ve been calling for this, Amanda won’t continue it.

Great video Scott. The big one is definitely running a lot quicker we were there last weekend and I was shocked. I’ve been on it hundreds of times since it opened in 94. I did like hyperia but thought it was over rated, and short. The big one seems a lot higher I know it’s not, as the lift hill terrifies me and hyperia I could hardly see the view. Non rider pass is a great idea we will see all generations of family like the old days again 👍🏻

Been saying it a while now but I’ve had a sneaking suspicion that the next 3 years could be great for Pleasure Beach. Not been the greatest season but it seems it’s been one that has been the start of the next era… here’s hoping!

Big one has good memories for me as kid when my dad took me on it as we kept going up the lift hill my dad says " we are just keep going and going getting higher" lol I was just wee boy age 10 nervous as hell and just turned 40 recently lol still great to see big one

Whilst I do think that the non rider pass is a step in the right direction in its current form it really doesn't make a lot of sense. As you said (which I totally agree with) trips to BPB are usually a last minute thing and not planned, it's hard to justify a season pass for say, my gran, if we don't even know if we're going to be going or not. I think the true value of such a pass is to be able to do it on the day when you randomly just turn up because you haven't planned to go but might want to just go if the sun's out or something. £50 is a lot for a season pass to somewhere where you're not even sure if or when you're going to visit at all in any given season.

We had that last visit, they asked people if they could stay on to fill the empty seats, something about weight. Unfortunately we were on the very back row, wheel seat. My neck has still not recovered from those 2 back to back rides 😂😂

High time Vampire Beach came back. I can't believe that Glasgow weekend is the only time the park is open late during the illuminations now. They also need to bring back the ability to pay with cash for entry, food and merchandise as at least a third of people who come to Blackpool rely on cash to budget.

Definately makes sense for the non rider pass, people not riding will still buy food and drink and support the park. Step in the right direction. What's your thoughts about the park selling the flag from top of ice blast as the last ever one?

They should keep the annual day pass on sale right up until 2025 season starts. Xmas is only 7 weeks away so a lot of folk will have money tied up in that.

Ice Blast has the scaffolding all the way to the top now and they brought in a crane and removed the top bit but still no word from the park. I'd love to know what's happening with that.

Should be free to walk around and only pay if you go on the rides I have refused to go in the pleasure beach since they started to charge admission fee I’d rather go to central pier

You will think i am probably over critical but I worry that the £50 season pass experiment is doomed to fail just like the evening closes a few years ago. Most non riders will probably just visit once with a rider group, so £50 isn't going to appeal to many people. The evening closes were poorly advertised and done in the quietest month of the year with high walk up prices . The midnight close a few years ago was another experiment doomed to fail because they did it in November. Its as if the park are doing these trials for confirmation bias to say we told you it wouldn't work. I really hope I am wrong and day walkround passes appear next year.

1 train operation for big one on sat 2 Nov so didn't bother. Also Icon ops refused to let us and others stay on for last train of day.....sent it around with 4 people. Really poor.

One thing I don't quite know with non-rider pass is how it'll work with rides such as blue flyer that don't currently have a turnstile - are they going to install them, or will non-riders be able to go on the smaller rides?
