That space over the fridge gets hot, can't really put any food or meds up there. We put our bread up there and it toasted it! It was hard as a rock the next day, so we just put our Tupperware up there. The stove will need a pizza stone or ceramic tiles in it to make it work right, the part where the fire comes out is just a straight line and it burns in the middle only. A pizza stone spreads out the heat to make it bake evenly. We had to live in our RV for a year after a flood, I loved it LOL. The only part that I didn't love was having to turn on the hot water heater and wait for the water to get hot. I bought an on demand water heater. I hope you get all the kinks worked out real soon and get to enjoy yours too.

That big, beautiful barn is going to be a life saver:-)It is a blessing. Might be a good place for a tent the kids could play in,when it starts getting cold. Or a screen tent set up,with your kitchen table. You have probably already thought of these, just things I thought,if it was me,what might make it easier. Hey mom,do you remember the year we lived in the camper???:-)I see many stories years from now,it is going to make for good times. God bless you in this journey Donna

You might consider a storage shed outside beside the camper for all the pots, pans, canning stuff. For things that can take the cold. We have a Rubbermaid one that we keep gardening supplies.

Excellent idea. We had one that we used for garden tools, but that would be ideal to store some large appliances and baking dishes, etc.. Ours was also a Rubbermaid brand. I just checked and Home Depot has them. The one we had was nice and kept stuff dry.

Living in a tiny space with family I found that fresh air flow is a must. Beyond just breathing, dirty laundry, bathroom and cooking add to the challenges of not getting enough fresh. Purge often from front to back. 💨✨

We have a roaster we use on our back porch for holiday meat cooking to free up our oven . The thing is big enough for a pretty size turkey with the lid and about 24 pounds with foil replacing the lid . You can bake in them too and they are pretty reasonable as well ! Ours is almost 20 years and still going strong ! We just plug it in on our back porch and it cooks great and with such a small place the heat could be kept out of the trailer ! 🙂

Dear people, it's good to see your happy faces! I came to your channel after your friends all posted the mold problems you had with your house, so I only knew you from radiating all kinds of stress :( I'm so happy to see you being way more relaxed! Good job hanging in there! There are lights in your eyes now, I see behind a more or less straight face, some twinkling and joking around going on. I thank God for that. May He bless you with more peace and may He relax you even more, now that you finally can take on the big job of making your house safe again.

The space over the refrigerator looks ideal for storing plastic wrap, tin foil, parchment paper, boxed plastic food storage bags etc, easy to get to when you need it without taking out every box to get to the one that contains the product you want. I envision you placing the boxes where the small side faces out.

Talk to Meg and Ben Hollar they cook for 6 in the camper and have a small oven like you now have they may have some secretes on how to do this after two years in their camper - thank goodness for the barn as an extended play area while you are in the camper over the winter - mouse were you gear is stored is my only other thing, other than the cats what else are you going to use like mouse traps up high out of the little ones reach - I grew up farming and Mum would set traps every winter encase they arrived

You might already know. Your propane heater will burn through fast. Normal tank two days max at 35 degrees. We live in our camper during Oklahoma winter while building our house. Please note couple things. First make sure your wiper seals are working properly under your side outs cold air will come in. Get two electric space heaters. Don't use power from R/V, will blow breakers run different power source to run them. Also we used hay but you will want to put skirting around camper going to get very cold during the winter. We used hay. after season gave it to goats. just trying to help. Good luck been there and done it great videos.

I put things I do not use all of the time in clear plastic containers just in case I need to get them. I just stack them up on my back porch if I need to get to them a few times a week. You can do the same things with clothes and stack them outside of the camper but just cover it up with a tarp if you are worried about the look of a bunch of containers.

Bri, I think you know or have a dutch oven. What I do is you know that they say for every 10 degrees you put a charcoal brisket on it but I use mine in the house, what I do is go out and find colorful river rocks the size of charcoal and then scrub them, sanitize them, then heat them in the oven for an hour then put what I'm cooking in it then use the rocks on the top as the complete cooking oven. Its a nice system and everyone asks me why the rocks are on the counter and when I tell them they like the idea. Have a great day on the homestead. God bless from PA.

I live in a camper too. The oven is small and doesn't cook evenly. I haven't tried it yet, but I read that if you put a pizza stone in the bottom, it will help hold heat and even the heat. My refrigerator freezes the stuff on the middle shelf. Gotta figure that out, too. But I really enjoy living here for the most part. I can clean up quickly. Clutter is a challenge though. I sometimes find myself moving things 2 and 3 times just to do one thing. 😕 I understand about getting that coffee maker in there!! That's an awesome barn! That's going to be a lifesaver for y'all when the weather is bad.

There are some clips you can buy for your awning that clip onto the awning and then onto the pole. It prevents your awning from flapping in strong winds. It will hold it in place. We had some and it made a huge difference. It has a grip on one end and velcro straps on the other. I think we bought them at Walmart, I can't remember it's been a while.

I don't know how much camping experience you all have but that how I'd approach this situation. I was recently with out a stove for a few months and used my electric skillet and crock pot a lot. Also set up an out door kitchen area will help give you more space to work as well as keep you camper cooler. Plus with all the space in the barn you could set up a kitchen/ dinning area. Would give you a lot more space for the holidays and home schooling.

You could also buy a “portable roaster oven” on amazon for about $70 bucks that could be used on a folding table under your outside overhang. My mom had one and so did I, we used them at Thanksgiving and Christmas for the big old turkey. But they can cook everyday meals too, comes with a cookbook & instructions. (they are electric) They cook slow but can hold a lot of food. Use a bbq too as somebody already mentioned. 👍

That would down considerably on the amount of sunlight and the airflow into the RV.

Hey Bri ... look for a countertop roaster oven maybe ... you can put a big casserole inside it ... or use it to cook a big roast. We just got one for $20 used that will do a 28 lb turkey!

it would be nice if you had some kind of heat thing that would not burn your barn down to sit around. I really like the idea of making that an extended living space. Hope it goes faster than you think.

I keep saying this, but our stories are so similar! My husband and I have moved our family 7 times in the last 9 years.

PLEASE TILT ONE SIDE OF THE AWNING for the rain to run off. It doesn't have to be all that much. This is one of the first RV tricks you learn. 💜So glad you are in your trailer!

This makes me want to move into our skoolie just for the purpose of cleaning out the house! LOL! (Yes, I’m fortunate ours isn’t a have-to case, although we can’t use our basement level at all due to mold.)

This is a good time for you to learn what you really don't need. Some times we end up with a lot of things we really don't need to get things done . I know I have realized that myself.
