ABOUT OUR BICYCLES
We are incredibly proud to announce that we are now officially sponsored by Tumbleweed bikes!
A few years ago, when I was planning this trip and researching bikes, it became clear pretty quickly what my dream bike would be: a Tumbleweed Prospector. Burly enough to tackle all the challenges I could possibly throw at it, built around a Rohloff 14 speed internal gear hub in the back so I wouldn't have to worry about a vulnerable derailleur. Add to that the huge tire clearance to fit nice wide off-road tires, with plenty of room to spare for any run-ins with death mud. Built with strength, longevity, and repairability in mind, if there were ever an apocalyptic event, the Prospector would be the one bike I'd want to roam the wasteland!
At the time I put it to the back of my mind as I didn’t have the money for it, but then covid came along, delayed my trip by an extra year, which gave me the extra time to save up and commit to buying my dream bike.
Now I’ve been riding it for more than a year. Its taken me all the way down through Mexico, 5000km on some of the harshest terrain out there, and more recently from the very top of Alaska, another 5000km down to Washington where we are now. After all these thousands of miles, if I was given the opportunity to build my dream bike from the ground up, there isn’t a single thing I’d change. I’d rather keep riding this one!
When Victoria decided to come along, we didn’t have the money to buy another bike, so we emailed 14 different bike companies asking if anyone would be interested in lending her one. Tumbleweed was by far the smallest company on that list, and it turned out to be the only one to reply and give us a chance. They lent Victoria their beautiful new drop-bar gravel bike, the Stargazer. Built with very much the same burly touring ethos as the Prospector, but slightly lighter and speedier. Without them giving us this opportunity, I’m not even sure this trip would have been possible.
So when Daniel at Tumbleweed recently expressed an interest in supporting our journey further in the form of a sponsorship, we of course jumped at the opportunity. We couldn’t be more proud to represent such a brilliant company, and ride the best adventure bikes in the world.

About
In July 2022, we set off from the very top of Alaska on our bicycles, with the aim of spending the next few years cycling all the way down to the southern tip of Argentina - the entire length of the Americas. We are definitely not in any rush, and often opt to take the scenic, more remote routes where possible. Neither of us are cycle touring or bikepacking experts, but we are figuring all of that stuff out as we go. If you would like to follow along, please consider subscribing!
