Hi Andrea. Yes, I think most of the Czechs know at least many of the plants and trees with eatable stuff 😂😉 And of course everybody is learning about these all the time in schools, I think it start’s even in kindergartens 😀

Thank you! 😃 really is very nice!! I don’t believe we learn any of that in school. Haha of course I can identify a mango tree from an avocado one but that would be pretty much it 😂

Andrea, it's so nice to see your cute little girls ❤. A walk along Berounka is nice any time of the year and the restaurant above the river is one of my favourite👍.

Hi Andrea, I have appreciated following your videos from Florida for the past several years. I was a teacher in Prague in 1991 and have been back a couple of times since, most recently 11 years ago in early 2013. Can you comment/update your thoughts on the state of the economy and real estate market. You made a video a couple of years ago (maybe three?) that was widely appreciated. Do you still feel the market is in a bubble? Are prices currently about 4.000 Euros per square meter? Wow! Anyway, thanks and stay warm! Oh, has the price of heating your home gone done this year?

So, you was in Srbsko village/town, wich same as Beroun, is flown through by Berounka river. Czechs have much less diverse fauna and flora than the one in southern America, therefore the biology classes usually covers it quite good. Especially poisonous, and edible parts of our nature are quite known. My granpa knew each and every tree (was working in the sawmill for a time, and LOVED to work with wood). Im much less informed on the matter, but can recognize the hazelnut tree too.

@@ArepasforDinner When i was thinking about that aspect again, it occured to me, it might have something with comunism and socialism. During those times, it was hard to LEGALY earn extra cash. And one way how to SPARE some money, and have it as "extra" for familly budget, was quite desirable aspect. Mushrooms - there are dozens recipies with mushrooms, but easiest and most used in my kitchen is either - "smaženice" (mushroom and egg purree, served with bread, baguette, roll or bun), or - hushroom parts (usually hats) covered in breadcrums (like schnitzel) and served instead of meat of the main dish. Fruits - Fruits, when in right quality and quantity, can be used raw, made into jam, or made into alcohol. During "harvesting" those crops, the kids (if they listen and do not get lost), enjoy the nature, and fill the families basement with pre-prepared dishes, jams and home-crafted alcohol, with wich father can show himself in front of (male usually) visitors. And that is kinda basic level - my grandma knew (hopefully always knows, but im almost forty now and she is older, because is my GRANDma) recipe on 3 or more foods made out of nettle (kopřiva) - the only herb in czech republic, wich blades sting and burns. BTW Andrea, need to take off my hat in front of you and your husband. Good upbringing of the short ladies is obvious from their behaviour. Just as a possibility - it might be interesting to see some fair (sorry i mean "pouť" - the fair with merry-go-rounds, but did not find the right word for it), and the ladies could enjoy it too. The same goes for some castle hunting, or interactive museum visits, or kid corners in prague visits. Only point, you probably did discuss with your husband - guard them and watch them. Majority of czech people would get rather killed, than let a child got stolen in front of him/her, but "modern age" is fucked up, and some people are too. Not to mention, Czech republic is not as homogenous society, as it was in times, when no-one could, nor wanted to come here. You and other people who understand our culture, do not have problems to live according said culture and want to WORK, not to do crime, are a blessing to us. Problem is, the tens of thousands ilegal imigrants from northern africa, afghanistan, and other completely different areas, with different upbringing, and firmly beliving in not complete real ideas about czechia. On much lighter note - thank you for your vids, be well, all four of you, good luck and good bye.

Regarding the botanistry of us Czechs, I'll quote an old Czech rule: When you go into the forest, bring always something back home! 😉

I’ll quote my dad now “when you go to the jungle bring your own food cause there’s not one thing to eat there opposed to what people think” 😂😍 love learning this interesting facts!! And also we just came back from mushrooming in the forest 💜

Thank you for a great vlog, Andrea. It's very nice to see the countryside through your eyes. I can relate to your surprise regarding Jan's knowledge of local flora. My Brazilian wife once remarked that she'd never have believed to one day be married to a man who can go to the forest and bring home mushrooms to make a dinner.

Hola Andrea!
