Some of that accomplishment is in the fact that you have pushed boundaries and come out the other side successfully. It is how you expand personal boundaries. Learn from them and understand where the limits of boundaries are. Enjoy the ride.

Hi Taylor. You probaly know this already, but the trick to stop your main from jamming in the mast is to furl it into the mast tightly, don't furl loosely because that makes the sail baggy and is what causes the sail to jam when trying to release it.
@brckmsn2 жыл бұрын
So great questions Taylor. You guys should feel relatively safe with Taylor on board as she has sailed with SV Delos on long passages and is a seasoned veteran now in my humble opinion. I would sail with Taylor any time. You never lose that knowledge or experience. Keep it going Taylor, we love you. How's Tiki? Congrats on a safe passage. Salute

Great video Taylor! I drunkenly left a slightly negative comment on one of your videos a few weeks ago but this one (and most of your other videos) was perfect. Exactly what I want from a sailing vlog. When I first watched your videos you were an amateur sailor and now you are a legit captain; making smart decisions, taking care of your crew, and still able to appreciate the fun and joy of it all. Good job! Also, big props to AJ; he's embracing cruising life in a big way and seems to be a real asset on board. Every boat is better off for having a dude like that on it.

I’ve heard tell that someone is more susceptible to seasickness when you can’t see the horizon at night and keep your senses in sync with each other while manning the helm. That may be why Brian lets the nugget hold onto the wheel in rough weather since she used to be more susceptible when younger. Great passage Taylor. Stay safe and fair winds.👍❤️🙏😎

I doubt you will see this in all the comments, but this particular video, watched just after a Delos episode made me realize one of the things that makes or breaks a channel for me. Talking. Especially the interview or introspection type. Talk while you are doing, or short explainers overdubbed. Just talking into the camera, or interviewing crew members is a sure way to lose my interest. Maybe I'm the exception, but I though I would share the observation. Much luck and happy sailing Taylor!

Hmm, being up on deck, not tied on, no one at the helm, one in the cockpit sleeping, everything is safe, until it’s not 🤦♂️
@captainjimolchs Жыл бұрын
It's a wheel, not a helm. There is a difference. The autopilot is handling the wheel. Even sleeping, one senses a change of course and conditions . A midship cockpit is very difficult to climb up from, even when one wants to. Wake up, look around, return to nap. Most likely, there alarms if anything approaches.

The "Hippie Mace" you suggest is forbidden by navigation regulations!. Because: 1) It can be confused with required lighting. 2) It interferes with night vision of both your watch and that of oncoming vessels. This is why ZERO vessels on any waters are so equipped. Pirates? they have radar.
