Good night everyone when do you move into your new converted lorry
@HigginsAH Жыл бұрын
I would keep that night heater in the cab..you'll really appreciate it when travelling and it's cold. That cabs a lot of space to heat. Put that night heater on a timer to come on an hour before you travel and you'll love it
@tinkeringtaylor3053 Жыл бұрын
I totally agree about keeping the heater and setting it on a timer for them cold winter months ❄❄❄

Hi guys the internal camera could be to monitor the driver when she was a commercial vehicle for insurance purposes. An idea though is to look into a blind spot camera and monitor fitted it may improve your premiums another thing might be to replace the side underun bars with an aluminium set which would give a little weight capacity with outside storage for wet gear gloves lubricants screenwash ect and keep the night heater it uses very little fuel and keeps the cab warm you can preset the temperature and have it on a timer It'll show you how in the manual
@Simon-e46M3 Жыл бұрын
Top tip when tilting your cab is too always make sure you empty the cab and make sure nothing loose is inside. If you leave something loose when tilting then it will hit the front windscreen and break/ crack the glass. One big expensive mistake you could do without.
@norb0254 Жыл бұрын
A lot of companies fit driver facing cameras..It is so they can see what the driver was up to at the time of an accident..With the night heater the fuel pipe will go all the way to a small fuel pump on top of the tank you can either take the pipe of the sender and blank it or cut the pipe at the sender and blank it with a screw for example ...You could also just keep the heater
@carthstar Жыл бұрын
Keep your night heater in they use not much diesel an it keeps your windows from freezing up the internal camera won’t be monitored by anyone some companies keep it for safety reasons keep your curb side “bicycle” camera
@thomassouthworth9835 Жыл бұрын
Hi guys, I would keep this camera, somewhere in the lorry their will be a hard drive that record images into drivers behaviour, what they are doing when their driving and god forbid, but if your involved in a accident in the future and you have done everything you should have done, then that camera will protect you, it’s called telemetry, there is loads of info on the internet, go and check it out before you remove it
@djarchi28 Жыл бұрын
Word of advice when tilting the cab. Make sure nothing loose is in the cab and open the front grill. I was cringing watching you tilt it with it still shut. Not cheap parts to replace. Loving the progress on the build. Almost at the finishing line
@teessidedroneservices Жыл бұрын
Looking good folks. The internal cameras on the trucks I used to drive were looked at if there was an accident. They check if the driver was on his phone or asleep etc. Easily covered up 😆
@jaybooth555 Жыл бұрын
I'd definitely keep the night heater, as others have said in winter you can set that for an hour before you leave and will have a toastie frost free cab. Otherwise you're going to be spending ages de frosting the cab then waiting for it to warm up once you've left. These cabs are absolutely freezing in the winter mornings with no night heater.
@darrenj3267 Жыл бұрын
I agree. It may also be possible to heat the engine from it which is a massive bonus in sub zero conditions

If the cab heater has a timer then keep it , those frosty mornings it will be great and its free because its already there. Would like to see 4 x point belts for the kids please mainly the little ones because they wriggle about a lot by nature . Prudent to always lift front engine flap before tilting it costly if you damage it. Good progress guys !
@paulriggers1558 Жыл бұрын
before you tilt the cab, you MUST remember to empty the cab, otherwise you will need a new windscreen, saw a jack-handle go straight through a screen a few yrs back... NEVER work under a half-open cab, always fully open it till it locks keep that heater, otherwise the screen will fog up when you all get in in the cold mornings it may just be the camera, but if those roof spotlamps are halogen, check the temp after running for an hour, they are supposed to be vented. hopefully, you are on LED yellow/white for your panel, will make the blue bit look smaller keep up the good work PS you are supposed to open the grille before tilting, some trucks squash them when fully open

If the gelcoat isn't clear coated I recommend you wrap it in vinyl wrap of 2 reasons: it's way easier to wash, and it doesn't stain as easy and stays crisp white, cause gelcoat tend to get yellow after a while 😀

Me and my partner are hooked on your channel. Your content is great. When you tilt the cab make sure you open the front grille otherwise you’ll crush it

Seats look really good - if the cab is steel behind them you can add magnetic name plates so the kids seats are labelled and you can swap them around if you need to. Is there space for Charlie in the cab? Your electris look great - I rather like the wood grain - if you like that too you can just apply a light varnish - a bit of wood stain will highlight the grain, or you could water down whatever colour you choose so the grain shows through the colour (it would work better with cream - the blue is likely to make it blend into the shower room All the best, really great to see your build progress!

I got an old aluminium ladder out of scrap, cut to size and mounted it to the front of the box behind the cab, makes accessing the roof easy to clean or check solar panels. One issue you're going to have is getting your dog in and out the habitation door, mine would bound up the steps in his younger days, but not anymore, its very steep, even for kids. It requires a lot of thought and crafty design.

Re. Cab heater: I have not read all the comments, so apologies if this has been said already, The breather exhaust pipe usually points at the fuel tank, the warm air that comes out will help stop the diesel from freezing in the winter, you will need that in Denmark, Sweden etc. Happy travels. The internal cameras are usually for accident purposes only. Just so if the lorry was in a crash they can see if the driver was at fault like using their mobile phone etc. It also reduces a company's insurance premiums if they were fitted. They are probably dead unless you find the recorder box where the videos are saved to. But more than likely was removed prior to sale but didn't remove the cameras.

I worked for a company with those internal cameras. A blue light just meant it was functioning but it would turn red and flash if it was then saving a recording . I believe it was 3 minutes prior and three minutes after the start of the flashing was saved. It was activated on a sharp movement of the truck so a sudden harsh braking etc based on deceleration times set in the system. It was all for lower insurances and to be honest you end up forgetting it's there.

HI, Loving the videos. keep up the good work. I've paused the video at the bit at the end where you so the inside of the cab to do this comment. I'm a Class 1 HGV Driver I've been driving for about 4-5 years now, to answer your question YES some companies like Culina Group I believe have camera to watch the drivers as they drive but it should only be accessed if for example your have an accident. I'm not 100% with that though as I've yet to work for a company that does this but I know its true as I see it mentioned in HGV Facebook pages and word of mouth from people who have worked at them. Hope this give a Insight into what us HGV Drivers have to put up with. Best of luck for the Future, Jordan 😊

As others have said, those cabs are not well insulated, so unless you plan to connect the cab to your living area heating, I’d keep that, if I were you. If it’s an air heater, it will warm the cab very quickly and much more economically than waiting for the engine to warm up. If it’s a water heater, then it will preheat the engine while heating the cab, helping reduce wear and tear due to cold starting, while reducing fuel consumption during warmup. Emergency vehicles use those to keep the engine ready for full power at all times.

The internal cameras were probably installed by the previous owner to keep an eye on his/her employees. My last employer had this done to all his 7.5 ton lorries to make sure the drivers don't smoke in the cab. In addition to that there was also some tilt mechanism fitted so that they don't drive on kerbs etc. The whole thing was monitored by an outside company.

It looks like you got away with it, however when tilting the cab you should always open the front flap/grill/bonnet, or whatever you call it, beforehand to ensure that it doesn't make contact with the bumper or radiator. Also, when you get to a certain point during the tilt, the cab will tip forward on its own, that way you know it's fully over & safe (although I can't speak for Mercedes' cabs). Tilting a cab for the first time is a nerve wracking experience... 😳
