I had the same thing happen to me. Need to get covers =)
@Adventuredriven2 жыл бұрын
Yes covers would be nice to have
@timf2279 Жыл бұрын
Those covers are hard to find the military does not use them on a regular basis.

Reallyally lucky you found the broken one, that's awesome!
@Adventuredriven7 жыл бұрын
very lucky

yup - the smallest of parts can take down the biggest and strongest of machines. Glad you had a spare part.
@martinsinclair554 жыл бұрын
Lookin at an M1079 in Alberta. The current owner doesn't seem to know much about it. How the hell do you get the heavy spare off the truck and then the flat back up on the truck? Have you figured out an operating cost yet?
@slamboy665 жыл бұрын
I know nothing about these, are the wheel nuts suppose to look like they are half on?
@Adventuredriven5 жыл бұрын
Good catch, we changed wheel type so it's ok to look like that, but thanks for asking :)

I carry extra CTIS tire assemblies just for such problems.

What did you shoot this on? No bouncing at all when she was running.
@alexsimon9156 жыл бұрын
that's sucks.... pretty fragile and exposed part considering it has a very high probability being hit on a rock...
@burnerjack016 жыл бұрын
Curious about using a 1079 for camping, etc. Is it suitable for driving around town? The width makes me wonder if it's 'doable'. How un/comfortable is it while driving? I don't expect it to be a substitute for my Silverado, just wondering how 'uncivilized' it really is. Would appreciate your thoughts on it. Thanks.
@minh48357 жыл бұрын
all that fancy runflat system but a broken valve stem took you down. why would you even need a valve stem when the truck has automatic tire inflation system?
@WhistleTeets856 жыл бұрын
That's why the have shields that cover that valve so that... ohhh maybe it doesn't get snagged on something and get damaged.
@chippyjohn17 жыл бұрын
why do you need an external valve if the truck has on board inflation, you are better off having a bolt in there that doesn't protrude so much and just have the valves as back ups in case on board air compressor fails

Are you guys using the aluminum rims? My lug nuts look different then yours. I must keep my eyes out for the CTIS hub shield.
@Adventuredriven7 жыл бұрын
Yes we just got the aluminum M wrap wheels, takes those lug nuts to make it work. Yes a shield would be good
@scabskunk7 жыл бұрын
Nice. I was looking at the aluminum rims but was hesitant to get them. Did you replace the standard studs on the hubs?
@Adventuredriven7 жыл бұрын
we did not replace them, all is stock
@scabskunk7 жыл бұрын
Good to know. I will be looking for a set soon then. The regular rims on tires are just a bit heavy.
@baum5257 жыл бұрын
fyi you could of put in to emergency mode and you could keep going without fix And the screw in the middle of the cap also is a on and off for that wheel
@Jim804707 жыл бұрын
Funny......not really......but when we were sitting around camp at OX, we were speculating.......How are they gong to change a flat? Luckily, just a small part on hand to reinflate rather than change. Shwew doggies !
@Adventuredriven7 жыл бұрын
yes very lucky I put that part in the truck as a spare, we have changed a tire on Brutus, not super easy but we have a system down now
@Venom2U7 жыл бұрын
Yes torx bits make great easy outs. Just be careful when the broken ________ doesn't want to come out. Because if you break a torx bit off in there............... Well now there's a hardened piece of steal in there too now........... Don't ask how I learned that lesson :P

Is your m1078 street legal? Do you need a cdl to drive it?
@jamesnoname58517 жыл бұрын
How hard was it to purchase?
@Adventuredriven6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is street legal & here in AZ no CDL is necessary.
@Adventuredriven6 жыл бұрын
Not difficult at all, the guy we bought it from was great. He & his wife liked to camp & take it to local military truck rallies. He sent us lots of pictures & videos of it. He even did a video of him going through the full cold startup procedure to driving it on & off road. We were impressed with the details he showed us, the good & the bad, he didn't hide anything. It was exactly what he portrayed it to be. We had it shipped on a Low Boy hauler from South Carolina for about 4K.
