I loved Kano and I loved the narrated victories, but yeah, I wasn’t a huge fan overall. 😂 I could never fault it for being cheesy or not having strong writing because that’s what’s expected of the franchise. But, what’s also expected is for it to make up for that with sick action and brutality. It was was brutal, but like y’all said, the fight choreo wasn’t really there. Which is a real shame because I’ve seen what some of those actors are capable of in their previous work! Joe Taslim (Sub-Zero) is top notch in The Raid: Redemption and Lewis Tan (Cole Young) has sick moves in Into The Badlands. Those casting choices were what caught my interest the most when this movie was first announced for that reason. Aside from choreo, another thing that kept bothering me during the fights was the editing. I don’t know if y’all noticed, but a lot of the transitions between angles were not smooth and lost continuity. Like, a character facing one way and when the camera quickly cuts to another angle, they’re facing another way or in another position. It was a little jarring. Last little bit (I promise) - I think I would’ve liked Cole’s character more if they didn’t tease so hard throughout the movie that he’d inherit Hanzo’s spirit and become Scorpion, only for Scorpion to show up and steal his thunder... and all he built up to was some lackluster armor and weapons. 😂😭
