Arabians live a long time. Some people are still riding theirs at her age and older. My Arabian is 26.

That mare is a very well bred mare. Even in her current condition, it's easy to imagine how stunning she was in her younger years because she still is absolutely gorgeous. I can't wait to see when she reaches full health again.

Wow! She looks wonderful! I've been an Arabian enthusiast and owner for more than 60 years and she is truly a lovely horse. Her head is what Arabian people would call classic.. It's so nice that she now has other horses around her and hopefully will be able to be turned out with them. Thank you for taking such good care of her.

You are right to limit movement for now to protect the heart.)

It's pretty normal for them to have trouble with hay at that age. My beloved old TB mare lived to nearly 35, I had her for 30 years. In the last 5 or so years she could no longer chew hay properly (she did have regular teeth work), she still grazed but I fed her a LOT of hard feed to keep her in good condition.I'm so glad Whinny came to you, the oldies still have so much life to live ❤

The only way we can get our older horse to eat forage in the winter instead of hay is to take senior pellets that are soaked and mix them with the forage. It has to be enough of the very tasty senior to overcome the “nasty” forage. Good luck getting her to eat the forage of whatever type. Too bad you can’t get her on grass, that is really what our senior horse prefers.

I have a pony that is estimated to be around 40 years old. She doesn't eat hay because she doesn't have the teeth for it anymore. ( She's spit out a couple.) She'll colic with hay, so she eats senior pellets.

Im so glad she's gaining weight. I can't believe she is 32 years old she doesn't look it. Have you thought about purchasing these bug's that you release in your pastures that eat fly egg's, larvae. I don't know the name of these bug's but apparently they do a great job at reducing flyes.

I understand the need for many small meals.. she may need a brief break or longer intervals now & then.. constantly elevated insulin whilst promoting growth, can also drive inflammation.
