I don’t think there’s anything more beautiful on this planet than listening to a mama horse gently calling her baby. I could listen to that all day every day for the rest of my life😊😊😊

Please don't leave halters on mares with a foal when unattended. It's dangerous. We have owned horses for over 40 years and have seen some tragic endings when halters are left on. Thankfully, never our horses. It only takes one call in the middle of the night from a neighbor to help with a broken foal and a panicked mare. You will never leave a halter on a mare again. I fully understand that rescue horses come with issues but Willow seems pretty chill.
@AliL-yx2ly2 ай бұрын
I totally agree and I also feel that you should never leave a halter on any horse unattended because they can get caught on things and become a danger

I know... so many tragedies. Years ago, we got a call in the middle of the night from a neighbor. They left a halter on a mare with a foal. The foal got stuck in the halter and broke a leg. Totally avoidable

@dreamtoreality98924 ай бұрын
Yes and actually you will see some puppies and kittens do the same thing. It's there bodies way of telling them they are in need of a certain nutrients and minerals. It's kinda hard to watch but it's natural for them. This is why it's so important to make sure that all pregnant mamas have everything possible in the mineral and vitamins and even extra extra calories and when babies are born for the first weeks I have always given them the tube of goodies as I call it . Squeeze a little into the palm of your hand and not only are you giving them vitamins and minerals you are also getting them used to eating out of your hand and being handled by a human. This was an excellent way to have my colt follow me everywhere I went and teaching boundaries . I still give him the goodies tube and he is 3 now 😂. Plus mints and sugar cubes. Yes he is a spoiled little colt . 😂

What is the difference between dun and buckskin
@CricketsBay5 ай бұрын
A Buckskin is a bay horse with 1 copy of the Cream Dilution gene. Dun is a bay or black horse with 1 or 2 copies of the Dun gene. Paler the AQHA, a Dun has "...a dorsal stripe, zebra stripes on the legs, striping over the withers, dark tips on the ears and darker coloration on the lower legs. These traits are a package deal - a dorsal stripe does not make a dun."

Newborn Filly a buckskin?! The poo eating is due to milk not being filling enough and also due to an upset belly . Poo is filling and helps balance out normal flora and enzymes for digestion as it also helps add in any missing mineral and vitamins. It is gross but natures tiny cures to mini issues. Turns out that equine are not merely herbivores as once believed. Equine can eat animal meat and have been known to eat their own in the wild. Sometimes that is due to a major deficiency and other times because they do like it.
