In 2002 I ordered a custom 714ce through Buffalo Bros guitars in CA (they are no longer in business). I wanted the more simple aesthetic of the 700 series but still with rosewood back and sides. I asked for an engleman top, rosewood binding and Koa around the sound hole, no pick guard and the LR Baggs Dual Source system.I love how that guitar sounds, plays and feels with the rosewood/engleman combo. Your comments about that wood combo are spot on.

I love these videos! Engelmann Spruce has been my favorite since 1997 when I bought my first Taylor. I didn’t know that different spruce species made much tonal difference until I played an 814 and 914. I was sold on the Engelmann. Then I bought a 710brz with an Engelmann top. Like your 914, it is my go to guitar. Thanks for providing proof that I am not crazy.

I have a 2021 914CE that is a stunning guitar to admire and play. I have come to realize that I am not a fan of the V bracing sound compared to my older Taylor’s with the X Bracing.

Ever thought of producing a video on the subtle “organic” differences between guitars of the same make and model? Even a video on an inexpensive guitar that out performs a “premium” one. The biggest weakness of online guitar shopping, imho, is the hands off experience. 🙏🔑✌️🇮🇱

Hi that very old music everytime here, is nostalgic feel for me as it meant a lot when I tried to make my baby sleep at every night. Anyway, I like that guitar too. I haven't bought 814CE Builder's edition or 914CE Builder's edition but I plan to buy either of the two in the coming months.

The LL16 yamaha also has engleman and rosewood and ive noticed the same roundness on the front end of the notes I play on it. If engleman spruce is so limited, I wonder how yammaha keeps using it on these models.

They possibly have secret caches of woods around japan. But since LL16 is made in china makes wonder does yamaha japan ship engelman to china or does china have there own stashes. Maybe someday yamaha only offer this on higher end guitars but for now its very awesome. Also have LL16D and its terrific guitar.
