We’ve not had a telly for over four years now. Living here in the Scottish countryside I’m always out with West🐶 being a border collie he’s 24/ 7. I do enjoy watching channels on KZbin, and I think that’s when the telly for me personally became redundant. Also with travelling like you and Jenny do, always different places to explore! Then come evening time I’m watching the back of my eyelids!! But very good information shared, always clearly explained Bob. 🐶🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🧡

We have a home Mi-fi with unlimited data from 3 network, that runs my internet at home.... when we're away in the caravan we take the mi-fi router with us....Just plug the power plug in, and as long as we get a 3 mobile phone signal we have the internet and wifi.... even when it's only had a 1 bar signal, it has worked absolutely fine.... My amazon prime has worked great both at home and on our travels....not had a failure yet, So far so good.... plus our phones connect to it immediately it powers up so wifi calls and internet are available right away....and all for around £24 a month... Interesting informative video... There are so many options out there it can be mind boggling 😳🤔👏🤣

Hi, we have a suction mounted satellite dish which mounts onto the side of the van. Can be a little tricky to make sure you can aim it OK as it can’t rotate 360 degrees. We’ve also mainly moved over to the Firestick, a single subscription is really good value. I’ve also added a external WiFi antenna, I’ve removed the van TV antenna, bought a replacement mast from the manufacturers and mounted my WiFi antenna on this. This uses the factory fitted roof gland, so no risk to water ingress warranty. Cheers from John & Al

I have fitted a maxview roam to the van which is great. We used to have a satellite dome but not on the new van. We use roku sticks on the tvs and subscribe to now tv and can stream sky movies and entertainment as packages. Works great for us and definitely the future for camping and caravan entertainment. Interestingly I now use a vixi sim which is excellent value with the endless video element included.

Hi Matthew I recently got a maxview roam fitted but as yet haven't figured out how to use it. I was planning to use a Roku stick. If you don't mind me asking how do you get the wifi on the roam .. do you have an unlimited data sim card, sky do a sim card which rolls over up to three years .. various costs per month for say 10GB each month. I'd be really interested to hear how you work the maxview roam .. Bob/Jenny sorry to hijack your blog .. excellent as always .. I am learning so much from you both .. you're brilliant. :)

Great insight, thanks. I use a Netgear nighthawk M1 router with a Poynting omnidirectional MiMo antenna for weak signal areas. At the moment just using a little aerial with a magnet that sticks to the roof, or stick to inside door of van and get good Freeview on the van tv. So the WiFi on the campsites isn't good enough to stream programs via Firestick to TV? Also it's handy to download the Fire TV app to your mobile phone and then use your mobile as a remote., handy if the remote is not nearby.

I use a Netgear AC790S router. On the roof is a Poynting XPOL-0001 mounted horizontally to reduce wind resistance. Thanks for the tip of using the USB port on the tv. This not only frees up an USB port but makes operating the firestick much easier. After 30 years there is still time to learn something new. Had a thought about gas bottle scarcity. They are still in short supply. There is a place in Preston called Rhino Installs that will fit a refillable lpg system. You can find out where to refill using an app LPGeu.com.

Hi Bob and Jenny Can I ask how does the net gear router perform versus a mobile phone? Me and Mrs P both have unlimited data packages on our mobiles, occasionally we don’t get a 4g signal would a dedicated router improve things and also is there a an antenna connected to the router if so could we somehow connect a mobile phone to an antenna.
@BobEarnshawMoHo
@BobEarnshawMoHo 3 жыл бұрын
I find the router much quicker to upload videos than using a mobile. It can also deal with multiple devices easier than a phone, I connect our phones, laptops, TVs and streaming sticks all to the MiFi. I tend to leave it on and forget about it. Much more like a domestic router. You can connect an additional aerial to it and maybe make things even quicker, but I haven't really felt the need yet.

Hi Bob & Jenny A bit late to the party on this one, but after finally getting a motorhome, we are investigating TV options.
