Teenagers eat like termites. Gotta buy lots of bologna, hot dogs, cereal. Make huge pot of chicken & rice and lots of ramen. I know whatcha mean. This is what I used to do too. Love your channel. New sub here. ❤❤

Thanks for your ideas! My biggest eater (17) is on a major health kick where he is trying to eat "clean" which I found out means meat and food that are not processed, and more fruit, veggies, healthy stuff! So it does make it a bit challenging because he doesn't want the hot dogs, and stuff like that. But I know the hot dogs would be a cheap meat to give him.

Excellent question. I totally understand why some parents ask their working kids to contribute...that said, we do not ask them to pay us for any of the groceries. Lots of times if they want something extra or out to eat, they use their money to buy it. But they do contribute to the family by just helping around the house, lawn care, etc. I am seeing this as a season we are in right now and trying to focus on the blessing we can be to them right now as they are getting their lives started (it's so hard in this economy with prices of things, cars, etc to get started finacially!)

I know, right? It's a never ending battle...just when you think you have fed everyone...you turn around and they're back rummaging in the fridge saying "what's there to eat?"

The rice/ lentils packets had like what 56 carbs.. 47 when you subtract fiber.

Yes they do have lots of carbs, but my teen boys don't mind carbs as long as they are healthy carbs...I need to be careful of carbs though!! They told me those lentil and grain mixtures make them feel full and "good" and the white rice I make makes them feel "bad" for whatever that is worth!!

be happy that your kids are healthy.. why not charge your kids rent every month.. would not hurt them to help out

My teens had to buy their own food. Or pay me 30$ - 50$ to pick them up. Remind them we can't fulfill a athletes diet preferences. Lol

I'm sure that is really starting to teach them responsibility. We are more of the thinking that we are still paying for the main groceries and meals, but if they want extra things, they often do go spend their own money on those.
