For those of you asking about the price of the table. Not sure. Like I said my friend designed it and had his people do the construction and the main part was a TV I was recycling. Overall I just had to pay for materials which didn't actually end up costing much since I already had the TV (Cheaper than a regular dining room table of that size).

That is really cool John. It really can't be improved upon. It's perfect. But if were to suggest anything you should get some led rope lighting or those backlights people put behind their TV's that change colors to mount underneath the table (out of sight) to broadcast light ambience onto the ground. Hook up the the ole dry ice fog machine during parties and you got LIGHTS and FOG. Ultimate mood setting. Perfect for MTG too. Have fun with your friends. Just keep drinks away from it, lol. And no monoply because we all know how those games end.

The wood around the screen needs to be twice as big. This table is to small for my group. We need a lot of space, since out tabletop tble is where we also play Arkham Horror etc. So yeah... Besides as a GM that small space is so not enough for me, I could not even have my GM screen there. If twice as wide it would be great. I do wonder why there isn't more space underneath....

Copyright, copyright, copyright & Kickstart this right now with your friend John! This is a potential million dollar idea! I can see this not just for D&D, but a whole new take on tabletop gaming....& A LOT more! ALSO, imagine playing some of the best known mobile games on this large screen? That'll be like a whole new form of gaming! Plus, have you ever thought about DIRECTLY ingraining a touchscreen control unit? Of course, it'll be way too expensive to make the whole panel touch screen, but you could easily attached cheap $40 Kindle touchscreen tablet panels around the sides of the table as multiplayer touchscreen remote controls. I know your wife works for Hasbro so I'm sure she'll have really good ideas too...lol, just think about it!

I recommend not allowing drinks on the gaming table. Or perhaps only spill resistant cups with tops on them. This looks like an accident waiting to happen. As for filming sessions of D&D and uploading them, for a table like this that would require multiple cameras and frankly a big hassle. There's some very exciting work in this area over at Geek and Sundry. Critical Roll comes to mind, but how it addresses the table is essentially to remove it. Instead we get a kind of panel discussion like you'd see on a news show. Still looks like they're around a table but.. kinda? This has its pros and cons. Putting the screen in the center of the table is a great idea for the players in the game, but this set up is not conducive to turning their home RPG sessions into John Campea's next KZbin project. I don't think that's his intent here. Tho I wouldn't be surprised if he's thought about it already and dismissed it. Or maybe.. just maybe.. Deborah Ann Woll could prove me wrong about the table. She kept the table and it works for her, but she's a rather unique little bird. I highly recommend Relics & Rarities for anyone interested in RPGs as video entertainment. No one's quite cracked the nut yet, but Geek & Sundry has gotten close. Their recent merger with Nerdist will either make or break that idea. Not sure which way the wind's gonna blow there. There's also many other projects on KZbin and Twitch and elsewhere that deserve more attention, but not sure if John Campea would want to venture into that territory right now.. unless he can find a better way to build that mousetrap. It's still not being presented in a way that mainstream audiences will embrace. There's been a strong niche following over the years but she's not gonna fly without more air under her wings. If Campea can find another, better way to make RPGs work for the camera on a shoestring.. well if anyone could figure that out it'd be Campea.

Planning on upgrading my own TV soon and yeah. I'm thinking of turning the old one into a D&D table. I'm looking around for different designs and such, but the main problem is that the table has to be portable and that you can easily assemble and disassemble it. I've only seen one decent design for a portable table, but so far that has been the only one. Looking for more.

Fantastic! Another KZbinr I am a fan of is a D&D gamer! Been a fan of Critical Role and the other D & D streaming shows (Waffle crew!) for years. I always enjoy learning of other KZbin personalities out there being D & D gamers, like the Nerdist crew and Trisha Hershberger. I know Matt Mercer, DM extraordinaire, is friends with your old Collider associate Ken Napzok. I hope accomplished actor Joe Manginello (not sure how its spelled) gets his dream of a D & D movie. Also I believe the lovely and talented Deborah Ann Woll has a D & D streaming show over on Geek & Sundry. Love the table!

Really amazing looking table. I saw something similar in one of the tabletop rpg design websites, where they interviewed a guy who makes tables like this as work/hobby, but yeah these tables cost a lot of money. I think he was able to make the table without the tv of course for 200-300 USD or something and sells them for 400-600usd I think. Of course it depends on the size and material a lot, so really large ones with excellent material might go for over thousand easy.

i am on my own way to build my own D&D Gaming Table i am myself an Technical illustrator and cutting machine operator so i do the planning myself and get over different ideas how to build it like shown on your version of table with space under the main plate to put stuff into it or to lay cables for electronics there i even thought about getting a "Bigger" table so i can also do like prepare for 6 players another Fixed hole with an tablet in it to use already cabled or stuff like that connected with DnDBeyond or anything similiar . But what i wonder or just wanna know do you guys use any special tool or Programm for the TV that is build into it to open maps with grid and i guess you use some kind of a thin layer plexiglass over the tv?
