Several decades ago, before my brother and I were born, my father planted a red pine tree in our family bush lot. Last year the three of us went out and took the tree down and sawed it into lumber. We each have a goal for that lumber: my brother is crafting himself guitar, my father is fashioning his own casket, and I will be creating a mighty gaming table. After years of playing on ruddy kitchen tables, my table will not only be a stylish improvement, but a true piece of family heritage that I can kill off my kids and grand kids characters at for generations onward...

Hey Matt, Awesome table. One thing you could do would be to plug the table into a switch controlled wall plug, or barring that, get one of the wireless switch adapters to put between the wall socket and the table plug, then just keep the switch somewhere handy but where it won't get accidentally hit.

Suggestions: Wire up your own little power button. (Yes it should be in build and that's a shame) Fabricate a cover for the lights to either defuse them more or block the upwards direction of the lights. (Those hue lights should have an awning over the top of them. The light should only go straight across and down onto the table, not up. Either with a lip or awning over the top or they should be set more back into the table.) The step down to the felt would perfectly hold some covers for the lights. Just make them the same width as the slat covers so you can have them on AND the DM section. But all in all the lights are not going to do anything in such a well lit room.

For your power problem, you could get one of those power strips that has a foot pedal that cycles the power. They use them for Christmas trees a lot, so nows the time to look for them.
@Necromancer12306 жыл бұрын
If I have one very tiny concern about the table, it's that the main power plug looks like it may be liable to get hit by chair legs and feet if you're not being careful being that close to the floor. You'd think they'd have had you plugging it in near the top of the table rather than all the way at the bottom of one of the legs, or they'd at least cut a niche in the leg for the plug to sit in so it's less likely to get smacked around.
@terrancat6 жыл бұрын
I figure it's low so the cord can be run under a rug.
@Necromancer12306 жыл бұрын
True but you could still have the cord in a less exposed position, even if you threw a rug over it you could still have the same sort of issues I mentioned along with potentially stepping on it. I've seen enough accidents with laptop chargers and the like to know those can be incredibly fragile if you're not careful. Like as long as they're careful I'm sure it will be fine, but it was just an observation I made because Matt felt the need to highlight how the power plugged in.

Hey Matt just wanted to put this on your most recent vid as a thank you. I'm gonna start running a game pretty soon where the basic scope of the campaign is on this large continent. The Hobgoblins of this world have gone to war against Orcdom meaning everything Orc related. This has caused Orcs to become much more established as a power in certain areas rather than scattered groups around the world. And your first adventure video from you're running the game series gave me a great way to introduce a recurring character and figure out how my players actually think. Basically thank you cause you're helping lots with this. I'm the only one familiar with dnd so its taking a lil bit for me to feel that I'm ready and they're ready to go into this. The felt piece at the end that you show in blue. Is it wide enough that if you partially cover the table it could be used as a topper for the part that was covered? I don't have the table, though I do have bluetooth speakers.
