it looked like the table legs are too thick to just slide the benches under the table (they wont fit). So i think the only way to get the benches under the table would be to pull them all the way out and slide then under the table from the side which might just be too much of a hasel every time you want to tuck away or use the benches

It's big enough for one to slide directly between the legs (probably not both tho)...I didn't mean slide it forward (clearly it won't fit that way)...but you would do like a "parallel parking" move under the table... you'd slide the bench towards the two legs at either end...and then drag it back to fit under lol (I'm sure Tiff understand what I mean) 😂💙 you can get *furniture sliders* so it'll slide easily on the wooden floor. It might take a minute or 2 out of your day but it's worth the space.

I can tell Tiff grew up in a real Mexican home with her decor. Back then, we stuck with really bright colors either on the wall or on furniture. When I was growing up, all my friends either hard a red couch somewhere or blue and had to be suede.

I've seen in some Korean apartments where they put their dining table "connecting" to their kitchen island., so move it the other way to make it a straight line. You can remove one panel from the chairs to be able to scoot it under the table and have a single chair at the other end of the table to fit all 3 of you guys. I think that'll help with some space

I think one of the main issues is that you have too many colours/finishes of wood all in one space...white cabinets, light wood floors, dark wood tv stand and a medium tone wood coffee table, dining table and benches that over power the room. As well, you have cool wood tones (tv stand, kitchen cabinets and flooring) competing against warm wood tones (coffee table and dining set). Best to use either cool or warm, not both. Thus, why it looks overwhelming and uncoordinated. Proportion/Size, shape, style and colour/finish are key to pre-planning with home decor. Besides your dining set, your sofa is also too large for your space. It’s best to draw out a floor plan to scale and use inspirational photos of small spaces, because what may suit a large space may not be applicable for small spaces. Generally with small spaces, it’s best to use furniture with thinner to moderate size legs. Nothing too chunky. I notice both your sofa and coffee table have no legs...that’s usually more suitable for large spaces. I highly recommend a smaller sofa with legs (L-shape is still fine, but smaller scale/frame, about 1.5 to 2 feet shorter on each end, something more on the delicate side) and a non-chunky coffee table with legs in a different finish that’s not a warm tone wood (same with the dining table and chairs). Another way to create the illusion of space is to install a floating tv stand and/or using glass/translucent furniture. You want to be able to see as much of the wood floor as possible to give the illusion of space. Once you have minimized the finishes, reduced scale of the furniture and selected furniture with legs, then you can add an area rug (minimal or no pattern), if you want to warm up the space. I would put one under the sofa and coffee table area and not the dining area. The edge of the rug should be about 1/2 to 1 feet away from the walls and 1/2 to 1 feet away from the edge of the tv stand. My suggestions based on common home decorating ‘rules,’ but as long as you’re happy with your choices, that’s what counts.

WHToronto that’s exactly what I was thinking about all the furniture and different patterns all around. I did notice the sofa goes around to right next to the tv. Whoever sits in that spot will have a tv speaker right on its ear and will be uncomfortable trying to watch tv. When they said they were getting a table I envisioned a thinner table. Also if they moved the piano upstairs it would open up downstairs and they could push the table closer to that wall

I don’t see the grandma decor at all. I see fun, happy and alive theme based decor. Btw... when I think of grandma decor it would be rose and yellow colored walls , doilies, porcelain tea cups, velvet couches, home made curtains, Kirby vacuum, plastic runners and live plants . I remember seeing that table on instagram too but I was so skeptical! I'm glad it really works! A rug under it may make it harder to change the size and would be prone to any spillage from dining/drinking.. I agree with your decision to only do a rug in the living room area instead. That's what we usually do at the design firm I work at. It helps define the spaces and also makes it cozier where you're going to be chilling. ^_^ Also, LOVE the powder room wallcovering

I think that it only looks weird because your home is brand new and modern looking with white everything. And most you tubers have all of their furniture grey and white and is boring and no color.
